Ski Season in Scotland

The season usually runs from December through to early April, but this varies depending on snowfall. Snowconditions are very changeable, but are generally best from January to April. School holidays, such as February halfterm, can be busy while midweek skiing during term time is generally much quieter.  

Don’t forget the sports sun glasses and sun cream!!

Why ski or snowboard in Scotland?

If you live in the UK, it is easy to reach the Scottishsnowsports resorts for a day or short break, even at thelast minute.

Skiing and snowboarding in Scotland is value for money,particulary if you are living in the UK.

There is a selection of ski passes available, from day tomultiple day passes and the Ski-Scotland and All AreasSeason Ticket.

Most resorts offer a wide selection of snow activities,such as sledging, as a fun alternative.

There is a wide choice of friendly local accommodation neareach resort.

The resorts all offer gentle nursery areas, easy uplift, a rangeof lessons and child uplift passes.  Instruction is available atall resorts.

For first-time skiers or boarders it is worth taking a lesson ata local artificial ski slope or at the real snow indoor centre'Snow Factor' near Glasgow.

On the 19th July Snowsport Scotland launched its newmembership, qualifications and events management system onSportlomo. After 6 months of development work, building additionalfunctionality to meet our needs we are delighted to see thisproduct finally deployed to our membership. Sportlomo comes witha strong pedigree for delivering end to end sports solutions forlarge sports federations and governing bodies. With tens ofthousands of users concurrently online at any one time, we knowwe have bought into a solid platform that will support ouradministrative functions for some years to come. Now that the basic membership system is live, the SSS team lookforward to bringing new functionality and benefits to themembership over coming months. Watch this space.

CREDENTIALS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Online Education Platform modified for Snowsport Scotland and launched 12th July 2019

Offer members the ability to sign up and pay for training courses within the Sportlomo system.

Set parameters around what membership category can sign up to which courses.

Create courses and specify what rewards the member achieves after passing the course.

Allow members to review what qualifications they have gained, what credentials are required to go to the next

level and when the next courses are scheduled.

Allow only certified members to take advanced courses.

Allow members to upload their own credentials to the system and administrators can approve these

credentials.

Snow Factor is an indoor snow resort at ‘Soar at intu Braehead' in Glasgow that hasthe longest slope in the UK.
