7 Ideas To Avoid The SaaS Trap.
The SaaS TrapYou've bought Software as a Service (SaaS). Everything will be in the cloud and it comes with pre-configured business processes.!
So, you should see the benefits in a fraction of the time it took last time you upgraded. Right?!
Not necessarily. The people stuff will need just as much effort. It might need even more, because people have less time to get used to the idea before SaaS arrives.!
Here are 7 ideas on how to avoid the trap.
Be realistic: you may be able to complete your SaaS switch-on in record time, but you will only get the full benefits when your people are up to speed. !!This can take some time after SaaS goes live - the trick is to do everything you can to minimise how long it takes.
!Understand exactly how each person will be affected by moving to SaaS - put yourself in their shoes and answer the question “What’s in this for me?”
Use your knowledge of the people impacts to ask what:!!- Will be needed to close the gap between today and the SaaS future?!!- Could be done after the software goes live?
Build a comprehensive change plan and integrate it
with the SaaS implementation plan
!Resource the plan and get all managers and leaders actively engaged - expect to communicate roughly ten times as much as you currently think will be needed
Put simple measures in place to check how quickly people are embracing the prospect and reality of SaaS
Manage the plan’s implementation tightly and increase or refocus effort if measures indicate progress is less than required
