Title 7 – Health Sanitation

The owner or person having charge is

responsible for elimination of any

rodents, insects, vermin, or other pests in

a dwelling containing two(2) or more

dwelling units and on the premises

thereof. The owner or person having

charge is also responsible whenever

improper rodent-proofing of the premises

causes the infestation.

The occupant is responsible for

elimination of any insects, rats, or other

pests within that part of the premises

occupied and controlled by him in a

single family dwelling.

Code Enforcement Process

•Bed Bug Complaint is reported by tenant(s) to 311 Service Center

•311 Service Request is assigned to appropriate Code Enforcement Area

•Code Enforcement contacts tenants to perform an inspection

Single family dwelling = violation issued to occupant

Multi-family dwelling (2 or more) = notice issued to property owners

•Property owner is given 30 days to comply

•Code Enforcement performs a follow-up inspection

•If not complied, Code Enforcement continues to monitor progress, as the

issue can be ongoing
