7th Grade Pre-Algebra
Chapter 7-5Graphing Linear Equations
![Page 2: 7 5](https://reader035.fdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022071903/55c591c8bb61eb02408b4687/html5/thumbnails/2.jpg)
Terms and Concepts (A) Once a linear equation is obtained, it
can be graphed by using two different methods:
Find the two intercepts and draw a line through those two points.
Re-write the equation in slope-intercept form. Plot the intercept and then plot two additional points using the value for slope.

Terms and Concepts (B) Method 1:
To find the x intercept, set y = 0 and solve for x.
To find the y intercept, set x = 0 and solve for y.
Plot the two points and draw a line through them.

Terms and Concepts (C) Method 2:
By using the rules of algebra (see chapter 4), rearrange the equation to get it into slope-intercept form: y = mx + b.
Graph the y intercept (0, b). Use the slope (m) to plot two other points
and then draw a line through all three points.
