Chapter 7-3Writing Equations in Slope-
Intercept Form
Terms and Concepts (A) Y intercept: the point at which a line
crosses the y axis. The x coordinate of this point is 0.
X intercept: the point at which a line crosses the x axis. The y coordinate of this point is 0.
The equation of a line can be written using slope and the y intercept.
This type of equation is known as slope-intercept form.
Terms and Concepts (B) Slope-intercept form: y = mx + b.
The y coordinate of the y intercept is represented by “b”.
