COMEX, the Sultanate’s major telecom and IT show supports all efforts exerted to achieve a sustainable development of the telecom sector.

A Telecom Zone at the show by the Telecommunica�ons Regula-tory Authority along with Omantel and Nawras highlighted their joint ini�a�ve to connect 250 rural villages through 200 telecom towers.

Following the COMEX trend, companies chose the event to launch their new services such as Microso�’s Office 365 and Yammer, Oman Data Park’s public cloud which is the first in the GCC, Telecommunica�ons Regulatory Authority (TRA) and Cisco’s new Video Conferencing Solu�on for hearing impaired people and ITA’s inaugura�on of the “Sas Centre for Virtual Reality”.

A dedicated B2B portal was included on the event website through which exhibitors could register their products and services for the 600 registered trade visitors to interact and meet them at the event.

A dedicated India Pavilion under the auspices of the Electronic & So�ware Promo�on Council of India –“Fi�een IT companies par�cipated under ESC’s banner”, said Kamal Vachani, regional director, ESC Middle East.

“ESC has been facilita�ng Indian par�cipa�on on a regular basis at COMEX to take advantage of the booming IT market in the Gulf and leveraging that associa�on to obtain business for Indian IT companies from the mul�tude of large global corpora�ons, which are execu�ng projects in the region. The par�cipa�ng Indian companies have bagged significant businesses,” Vachani added.

IDA Interna�onal, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA), officially signed an agreement at the sidelines of COMEX 2014 by HE Hamad bin Khamis Al Amri, Undersecretary of Oman’s Ministry of Manpower, Dr Salim Al Ruzaiqi, Chief Execu�ve Officer of the Informa�on Technology Authority (ITA) of the Sultan-ate of Oman and Mr Tan Lark Yang, Group Director of IDA Interna�onal, with to deliver digital services for the Omani Ministry of Manpower.
