Supper starting at 5:30. The films, “Chasing Ice” at 6:30,
“Sun Come Up” at 7:30, and “Before the Flood” at 8:30

Pope Francis’ Encyclical on the environment.
Preceding the films will be a soup supper with choices of
warm, meatless homemade dishes and toppings. And,

I Can Do That
‘God made this wonderful world in which we live and which . . . we are now in the process of destroying.” -Pope Francis
Avoid toothpaste, skin care products and cosmetics containing microbeads. Microbeads are manufactured solid plastic particles of less than one millimeter. These products are banned in many countries and are in the process of being phased out in the U.S. They are a risk to your health, can cause plastic particle water pollution, and pose an environmental hazard for animals.
When we pollute the earth we pollute our own bodies.

We hear a great deal about forgiveness, but do we understand it?
How does it work?
What happens when the hurt is so horrific we cannot forgive those who

Does God really say, ‘if you do not forgive from your heart, your
heavenly Father will not forgive you?’
You are invited to this half day retreat to feel the depth
of forgiveness God desires to lavish upon you.

Lenten Action: Food Collection for the
Unsheltered Homeless
“I was hungry and you gave me food,
I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink.” Matthew 25:35
Dear Parishioners,
Based on their latest statistics, Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless (NEOCH) estimates that there
were about 23,000 people experiencing homelessness in 2018 in Cuyahoga County. There is a great
demand for assistance for those who are homeless and for the unsheltered homeless. Once again, I am
appealing to you for help for the unsheltered homeless, those who, often due to untreated mental illness,
are afraid to leave their homeless sites to seek the help they need.
I am requesting food items to fill nutrition bags that will be distributed to unsheltered homeless people
by a Care Alliance outreach worker and volunteers. Care Alliance is a non-profit agency that has been
providing services to the homeless population since 1985. Through outreach, Care Alliance workers
provide care to the homeless where they are, where they sleep. They build trust with these individuals
(the first step to helping them out of homelessness) by distributing provisions of basic necessities,
donated by individuals like you. Last year, thanks to your generous donations of food, we filled enough
nutrition bags to distribute through March of 2020.
This year Deacon Lou Primozic and his “I’m In Ministry!” volunteers have offered their help. What a
blessing! Deacon Lou has gone on outreach with Care Alliance workers and distributed the nutrition bags
that your donations filled. Last year, the food was stored in a parishioner’s basement and two volunteers
packed about 300 bags every couple of months. This year Deacon Lou and volunteers will take the food
you donate directly to the “I’m In Ministry!” Fulfillment Center, a donated work and storage space in
Independence, where many volunteers will help pack the nutrition bags and where these bags will be
conveniently available to the Care Alliance outreach workers year-round.
Items needed:
Tuna packets or flip-top cans of tuna
Small flip-top cans of pasta products, such as Chef BOYARDEE Mini Ravioli or Lasagna
Small flip-top cans of beans or chili or stew or other canned goods high in protein
Boxes of “Juicy Juice” or other brands of a juice product
Nutri-grain or other brands of individually wrapped breakfast bars.
Individual servings of pre-packaged applesauce, peaches, or other fruits (easy-open, no can opener needed.)
Individually wrapped crackers (cheese or p-nut butter filled)
Note: ALL items must be easy to open and not require a can opener. Water is not being collected as
it is now provided by Care Alliance. Please, no candy or cookies.
Food will be collected after all of the Masses on February 29 and March 1 only! Please place your
food donation in the bins marked “‘I’m in Ministry!’ Food Collection for Homeless People.”
Please contact Rose Jancsy with any questions regarding this project:
