Jesus uses the word “woman” and not “mother.” Jesus has been progressively distancing himself from his mother and other relations, too. It is not the kinship, but the discipleship that will take one to the kingdom of God. One ought to be a believing disciple of Jesus Christ, who suffered and died and was raised. Mary was indeed a believer and disciple par excellence! Like her suffering son, Mary also suffered from the time of Annunciation through a series of fiats which reached the zenith on the Cross. Though Jesus remains the central figure in all the Marian references in the New Testament, Mary is shown to play her significant role as mother, believer and a perfect disciple. The Angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and asked her consent to become the mother of the long-awaited Messiah. And more astonishingly and signifi- cantly she was to be the Mother of the Son of the Most High. And for this she would be overshadowed by the power of the Most High. Awesome News!! (Lk 1:35) . Here are two beliefs clearly stated in the gospels: Her divine motherhood and her virginal conception. A faithful believer as she was, Mary responded gracefully and totally freely “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord! Be it done to me according to your word” (Lk 1:38). This is the first Fiat of Mary and many more will succes- sively happen in her progressive march as a believer and disciple. Mary is at her best here. She has played as the most wonderful model of a true believer in Jesus. Every time Jesus calls her “woman,” he dis- creetly refers to her as the role model of a loyal believer and disciple. It is at the foot of the Cross that Mary came out exceedingly a courageous woman. It was here that a sword of sorrow struck her, as predicted by Simeon the prophet, in its most agonizing way. In the Temple of Jerusa- lem, it was a ritual redemption of the “first-born.” And here it is a veri- table redemption brought out by the Sinless One for the salvation of humankind. And Mary, too, redeemed already by the fruits of Passion, death and Resurrection of Jesus, anteriorly applied to her, participates in the Passion of Jesus as a New Eve, the mother of all living. The scene of the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple (Lk 2:22-38). The Presentation in the Temple is closely linked to the Crucifixion of Jesus on Calvary. The prophecy of Simeon is to be read to better understand the role of Mary in union with the Passion of Jesus Christ. To give one’s life for another is to extend the fire of love in charity for other human beings, charity begins with understanding, then turns into forgiveness and extends into action I call you to be my friends so that you may do the same things that I have done, I reveal to you my wisdom so that in it you may find your perfection. No one comes to me by his own initiative. I call every one individually and in spiritual ways, to be converted, then to imitate me and to obtain the perfection of holiness by becoming another Christ. In all epochs of history, I elect my disciples among the chosen ones, so that they may become my apostles and produce abundant fruits in my vine. He or she who produces fruit and permits this fruit to remain, by keeping faith, may ask the Father in my name and He will be very happy to respond. Promises of the Rosary

WHAT’S HAPPENING

DID YOU KNOW?

Hanging on the Cross, Jesus sees his

mother and John standing at the foot

of the Cross… Looking at them,

Jesus says: “Woman, behold your

son … Behold your mother” (Jn

19:26-27). Thereby Jesus gave Mary

his mother to the Church. It was a

pure gift and grace of our Lord Jesus

to make available to humanity the

maternal role of Mary.

THE MOTHERLY ROLE OF MARY, THE BLESSED VIRGIN

MOTHER IN THE CHURCH AND IN THE WORLD

It is the pure grace of Jesus according to the plan of God.

The Church and the world must have a Mother, the val-

iant Woman, chosen by God in the place of Eve, the

mother of all living.

Jesus uses the word “woman” and not “mother.” Jesus

has been progressively distancing himself from his

mother and other relations, too. It is not the kinship, but

the discipleship that will take one to the kingdom of God.

One ought to be a believing disciple of Jesus Christ, who

suffered and died and was raised. Mary was indeed a believer and disciple

par excellence! Like her suffering son, Mary also suffered from the time of

Annunciation through a series of fiats which reached the zenith on the

Cross.

Though Jesus remains the central figure in all the Marian references in the

New Testament, Mary is shown to play her significant role as mother,

believer and a perfect disciple.

The Angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and asked her consent to become the

mother of the long-awaited Messiah. And more astonishingly and signifi-

cantly she was to be the Mother of the Son of the Most High. And for this

she would be overshadowed by the power of the Most High. Awesome

News!! (Lk 1:35) .

Here are two beliefs clearly stated in the gospels:

• Her divine motherhood and her virginal conception. A faithful believer

as she was, Mary responded gracefully and totally freely “Behold, I am

the handmaid of the Lord! Be it done to me according to your word”

(Lk 1:38). This is the first Fiat of Mary and many more will succes-

sively happen in her progressive march as a believer and disciple.

Mary is at her best here. She has played as the most wonderful model of

a true believer in Jesus. Every time Jesus calls her “woman,” he dis-

creetly refers to her as the role model of a loyal believer and disciple. It

is at the foot of the Cross that Mary came out exceedingly a courageous

woman. It was here that a sword of sorrow struck her, as predicted by

Simeon the prophet, in its most agonizing way. In the Temple of Jerusa-

lem, it was a ritual redemption of the “first-born.” And here it is a veri-

table redemption brought out by the Sinless One for the salvation of

humankind. And Mary, too, redeemed already by the fruits of Passion,

death and Resurrection of Jesus, anteriorly applied to her, participates

in the Passion of Jesus as a New Eve, the mother of all living.

• The scene of the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple (Lk 2:22-38). The

Presentation in the Temple is closely linked to the Crucifixion of Jesus

on Calvary. The prophecy of Simeon is to be read to better understand

the role of Mary in union with the Passion of Jesus Christ.

MOTHERS OF THE BIBLE

A MA MA MA MOTHEROTHEROTHEROTHER''''SSSS LLLLOVEOVEOVEOVE

A Mother's love is something

that no on can explain, It is made of

deep devotion and of sacrifice and

pain, It is endless and unselfish and

enduring come what may For nothing

can destroy it or take that love away .

. . It is patient and forgiving when all

others are forsaking, And it never

fails or falters even though the heart

is breaking . . . It believes beyond

believing when the world around

condemns, And it glows with all the

beauty of the rarest, brightest gems . .

. It is far beyond defining, it defies all

explanation, And it still remains a

secret like the mysteries of creation . .

. A many splendored miracle man

cannot understand And another

wondrous evidence of God's tender

guiding hand

A popular saying is that God cannot be

present everywhere and so he created

mothers. The relationship between a

mother and a child is very special and that

is as good as truth. A mother means the

world to a child, it is she who protects,

nourishes, and bestows her child with love

and care. It is she who sacrifices many

things in life to give the best to her chil-

dren. Mother's day is that special day that

gives you the perfect opportunity to

shower your mom with your love and

affection.

The truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when a

adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our

sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and

endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and

cause peace to return to our hearts The Miracle of Life nurtured by a woman who

gave us love and sacrifice...MOTHER"
