FEBRUARY IS PEACE BUILDING AND CONFLICT PREVENTION MONTH

We will be having an informative session by a Team comprising of Mr. Rion Das,

Mrs. Preethy Alexander & Ms. Pamela Pradhan from the Department of Physical Therapy

and Rehabilitation Of Medica Superspeciality Hospital.

Physiotherapy has a crucial role to play in the restoration and upkeep of the human body.

Physiotherapists deal with the musculo-skeletal system which forms the heaviest part of the

organ systems of the body.

Just as we send our cars to the workshop to keep it running well, the physiotherapist ensures

the musculo-skeletal systems functions efficiently. It is vital that our physical body should

be strong, flexible, agile, balanced and fit to handle our everyday duties and aspirations,

irrespective of our age.

Visit to Eye Hospital

On 18th February, team Mahanagar visited our newly formed eye hospital Rotary Mahanagar Netralaya. Due to the visionary and hard work of RIPN Shekhar Mehta, MAHANAGAR is again able to provide light of the day and brighten lives of many needy people. On this special day, RIPN Shekhar Mehta and Rashi Mehta committed for 50 eye surgeries. A very Noble work indeed...RIPN Shekhar Mehta, Mrs. Rashi Mehta, PP Rtn. Rajendra Makharia, Rtn. Ashok Agarwal, Rtn. Manish Biyani, Mrs. Aparna Biyani, PP Rtn. Pradeep Rawat and IPP Rtn. Chitra Agarwal graced the event with their kind presence.

On 8th February, Saturday our RWM was held at HHI. The guest speaker for the evening was Mr. Sanjay Bhuwania, a chartered accountant and financial advisor. The meeting started with president Vinod Mahipal telling us about the projects followed by which Rtn Vinay Agarwal was called upon to introduce the guest speaker Mr. Bhuwania. He spoke about the finer requirements of a successful business and emphasised that businesses which require less capital and have low debt are sure to be successful. He shared his expert knowledge in business management with the members that will help entrepreneur both young and experienced. The talk was interactive and the speaker entertained questions from the

audience very intently. The vote of thanks was given by PP Anand Sureka . The session was very informative and engaging.

Under our Project Food Bank, food is being distributed on regular basis to 1000 students of Arya Vidya Mandir for Girls. On 14th February, Rotary Calcutta Mahanagar distributes Oranges to 1000 students of Arya Vidya Mandir for Girls.

Mahanagar Bloodline

During this period (10.02.2020 to 17.02.2020), our Club carried out Blood Grouping Camp and registered 67 SOS donors for our Bloodline. On 6th ,September camp was conducted at “United Forum for National Integrity” 297 A.P.C Road, Kolkata . We also met need for 3 patients.

“Dil deke dekho, Dil deke dekho, Dil deke dekho ji”; Happy Valentine's Day to all the Rotary friends. As President Vinod Mahipal said that Valentine can be anyone whom we love and definitely we all love each other. So what better way to celebrate the spirit of love than on Valentine's Eve? The celebration was definitely fun with all the lovely games that were organized by Nisha Padia and Savita Kothari. The emerald hall of HHI looked beautiful with the decor done by Shalu Agarwal, Nisha Padia and Savita Kothari. Not to forget the spirit of winning hearts on Valentine's by all the club members and our special guest Incoming Trustee Rtn.Geeta Manek from Kenya and Trustee Rtn.Julia Phelps while playing the game. The spirit of love was spread further by dancing to the tunes of Lata's and Kishore's of our club. Thanks to the efforts of Dr. Nipa Gandhi, Dr. Udey Vir Gandhi, Aparna Biyani, Aditi Ray and PP. Rotary India Centennial Summit 2020

Rotary India Centennial Summit 2020 was held from 14th -16th February at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, Kolkata. This was held to mark hundred years of rotary in India. The summit was participated by 4000 plus dignitaries from 32 countries including India. Who's who of Rotary world including RI President Mark Malony, President nominee Shekhar Mehta, RI Directors Kamal Sanghvi, Dr Bharat Pandya and galaxy of Rotary International dignitaries attended the summit and gave their deliberations to inspire Rotarians from all over the world. The summit begun with inaugural session followed by six plenary sessions based on six areas of focus and a valedictory session. Apart from this there were ticketed Presidential and President Nominee dinner and Past Presidents' lunch. Icing on the cake was House of Friendship with scintillating music performances, sumptuous foods, commercial booths and Rotary booths to showcase wares and activities. During the convention members got the opportunity to listen to the best brains from the

field of education and service activities. On the final day it was honoured by the presence of Vice -President of India Shri Venkaiah Naidu. Our club Rotary Calcutta Mahanagar was present there in good numbers all three days. Total of 30 members including spouses were present to cheer our own member, RI President Nominee Shekhar Mehta. The summit has left a very impressive lasting impression on all the attendee members and spouses. They were all well motivated and educated about various activities and service projects being carried on in the Rotary world. They were also given the glimpse of the future activities by the Rotary leadership. I'm sure this will be remembered for a long time to come. After the Rotary Annual convention, this is the biggest gathering of Rotary members and dignitaries under one roof.

Spectacles Distribution

On 28th January, Rotary Club of Calcutta Mahanagar organised Eye Check-up camp at Bhowanipore, Kolkata in association with Bhowanipore Kansaripara Sitala Mata Mandir Committee. On the day around 55 patients were checked.On 11th February 2020, Rotary Club of Calcutta Mahanagar distributed free Spectacles to 33 needy people at our Eye Clinic at Bhowanipore.

Rotaractors in 48th Rotaract District Conference

Rotaract Club of Heritage Institute of Technology had a vibrant presence at the Annua l Ro ta rac t D i s t r i c t Conference of RID 3291, DisCon 2020. Rotaractors took part in all the events organised on the 2 days of the conference, the hardwork and dedication of the past few weeks p a y i n g o f f w h o l l y a s e a c h performance came together. RC-HITK returned with 11 awards, including the highest honour of 'Best Club' of the 48th Rotaract District Conference.
