6th Framework ProgrammeImplementation of Priority
3.4.3
New production Processes & Devices
Dir G - DG ResearchWarszawa, 20go stycznia 2003
• Processes and devices in support of transformation from traditional to high added-value industry
– Development of new processes & flexible and intelligent manufacturing systems
– Systems research and hazard control– Life-cycle (production-use and user awareness)
Area of more socio-economic nature
• Promoting holistic production concepts & transition towards more knowledge-based production through innovative processes, systems and devices and their incorporation in the factory of tomorrow :
• Hybrid technologies• micro-systems & automation• high precision production equipment• integration of ICT technologies• sensing & control technologies• new engineering techniques• innovative robotics ….
New processes & devices and flexible & intelligent systems
• Improving sustainability of industrial systems through reduction in environmental and health impact & resource consumption :
• new systems and devices for safe and clean production• sustainable waste management• hazard reduction in production• enhancement of company responsibility• “production-use-consumption” interactions as well as socio-
economic implications
Systems approach and hazard control
• Improving the life-cycle and service orientation of products and production :
• research will focus on innovative products-services systems that optimise the “design-production-service-end-of-life” value chain through the development of hybrid technologies and new organisational structure
Optimising the life cycle of industrial systems, products and
services
Transformation of European industry for improved competitiveness & sustainability
Collaboration research; industry and public authorities (eg.Eureka) for “manufacturing in 2010”
3.4. New Production Processes & Devices
