Content Weighting User Guide

About This Document This document is an instruction manual for the Virtual Experience Platform Content Weighting functionality. It presents features that enable event organizes to utilize content weighting to maximize visibility of certain pieces of content to elevate accessibility and relevance within a Virtual Experience Platform event. This unique capability helps administrators and organizers emphasize key information to create valuable thematic events. As our Platform continues to evolve, so will this document. Please watch for future updates. If you’re not sure if you have the latest version, please contact your 6Connex event manager. We appreciate your selection of the Virtual Experience Platform v4.0 and hope you find this user guide valuable. NOTE: The information in this manual is intended for event administrators and exhibit partners only. Terms of Use Use of this Virtual Experience Platform v4.0 Content Weighting User Guide is for customers of 6Connex, Inc. only. The information contained in this document is proprietary and confidential. Distribution of this document to persons not covered under the 6Connex ‘Software as a Service Agreement’ is prohibited. Overview Virtual event content strategy is critical to ensuring attendees focus on the most important messages and information event owners and sponsors/partners have to offer. The Content Weighting feature enables this by assigning “weights” or point values to content items that elevate them appropriately in content Search results and Recommendations, thereby increasing the opportunity for attendee interaction. Both event owners and sponsors/partners have the ability to weight content. It is recommended that content weighting be discussed ahead of time with all those who will be adding content items to the system through the VE Platform Control panel. This will help ensure the proper content visibility hierarchy is achieved and not disrupt the overall marketing strategy of the event.

Assigning Content Weights in the Control Panel This section covers assigning weight values to content which will affect their ultimate position in Search results and Recommendations in the event User Interface (UI). To use this weighting feature, you must create a content item or edit an existing one in the Virtual Experience Platform Content Management System Control Panel ‘Manage Content’ section (See ‘Manage Content’ in the CMS and Time Bracketing User Guide) Weight in Searches Field When creating or editing a content item, you can assign it a “weight” in the ‘Weight in Searches’ field. This can be any number between 1 and 10,000. The default weight is 1. Non-numerical values will result in inaccurate search results.

Entering a higher number will cause this item to appear closer to the beginning of Search results and content Recommendations. Weights are relative across the entire event - a content item with a weight of 1000 will appear at or closer to the beginning of the results than an item with a weight of 10. Submission of Content Weight When you save the content item by clicking the ‘Submit’ button at the bottom of the ‘Add Content or Edit Content’ form, the weight is saved as part of the information about the content item. When the event is Previewed or Published, the weight that was entered will affect the position of the content item in relevant Searches and in the Recommendations section of the Event UI.

Viewing Weighted Content in the Event In this section you’ll see the results in the event UI of weighting content items in the Virtual Experience Platform Control Panel Content Management System. Preferences When a user adjusts their Preferences, it affects the content listed in the Recommendations section. In the example below, a user has checked both the ‘6Connex’ and other ‘B to B Technology’ words, which were assigned to certain content items when they were added in the Control Panel.

When the user then views the Recommendations, they see the following items:

If we view the ‘Add/Edit Content’ screens in the Control Panel for the top two items in the Recommendations, the items have both been assigned values in the ‘Weight in Searches’ field higher than the default value of ‘1’:

The item called ‘Design Reactor Introduces 6Connex’ ranks closer to the beginning of the Recommendations than the one called ‘6Connex Fact Sheet.’ This is because the first item has a weight of ‘20’ and the latter has a weight of ‘19’.

This functions identically for results shown in the ‘Search’ area of the event UI.
