You also helped young boys and
girls to participate and enjoy a
Faith Camp and Rally in the
City of Mamfe in Cameroon!
They were able to learn so much about being brothers
and sisters in God’s family and how to help others
through prayer and support just like you do!
Building this nursery school has also
done something else for the whole
community of Menji. The parents of
these boys and girls are now able to
go to work knowing that their children
are being looked after, and cared
for, in a beautiful new nursery. This
means that each family will have more
money than before and can offer
better futures to their children! How
wonderful is that!
In the town of Menji in Cameroon, you helped
to build a new nursery school for toddlers who
will be going to their local primary school when
they are old enough. This nursery school will
be helping these young boys and girls learn to
read, write, play music, draw and paint, and,
of course, to learn about God’s love for
everyone!
YYYooouuu rrraaaiiissseeeddd €€€222000333999!!!!!!!!! Do you remember back in December just before you went
on Christmas holidays, many of you took part in Mad
Hair Day to raise funds for Sr Evelyn and the Badjao
Children in the Philippines? Thanks to each and every one
of you, Sr Evelyn received €2039 and she will be able to
help so many children, and their families, with this
wonderful amount of money.
They say “the sky’s the limit if you have
a roof over your head” Well, 185
children in Kumbo, Cameroon have just
had a new roof and lots more new
equipment supplied to their school thanks
to children here in Ireland. Can you
imagine what it must be like to go to
school each day with an old leaky and
rusty metal roof letting in all types of
bad weather! A big thank you comes from
the children for their lovely new roof!!

A huge thank you to Ella, Seán and
Róise from Glin and Ballyguiltenan
National School who were the three
collectors on behalf of the local
children’s choir that raised €255
for the Society of Missionary
Children earlier in the year!
Our Christmas Colouring Competition
winners were thrilled with their prizes and
certificates! Thank you Dylan from St
Patrick’s NS Kiltormer, Millie Rose from
Scoil Naomh Eirc Tralee, and Áine from
Templemary National School Killala for
your photos!
The children of Ballincrossig National School in Ballyduff, Tralee, Co. Kerry had so much
fun during Lent with two different campaigns to raise money for Missionary Children! They
held their own Mad Hair Day and it was wonderful to see great imaginations coming up
with cupcakes, Easter eggs, back-combings, punk and much more! The other event was
their Pyjama Party! I was so glad to see Tony Bear, Scooby Doo, Pikachu and so many
other cuddly friends enjoying their day in Ballincrossig School! Well done to all involved.
The money raised will go to very worthy causes indeed!
The pupils of St Laserian’s School in Carlow wrote to us after they received our February
Newsletter and this is what they had to say: “We recently received your wonderful
newsletter in our school. Our class decided to make pancakes for the students and staff
in the school to raise money for charity. We then decided after reading about the great
work you do that we would like to donate the money to your organisation. Everyone had
great fun on the day and we helped raise awareness about the Society of Missionary
Children.” (Senior 3 Class)
Children in Ireland do not
have to donate to participate.
It is equally important
that children pray for other
children here and around the world. Throughout the year so
many of our members contacted us to say they prayed our
mission prayer or the world mission rosary so thank you for
your spiritual support too!
As the Pope’s official children's charity for overseas
mission, the Society of Missionary Children supports
the physical, spiritual, and emotional wellbeing of
children around the world.
The Society encourages children to pray together for
each other and for children living in poverty and fear.
It also encourages children to share whatever they
can, no matter how little, to help with the material
needs of their brothers and sisters. Being universal in
character, our projects tend to the needs of all children,
regardless of their background or beliefs, exemplifying the
all-embracing nature of the Catholic Church.
On behalf of the Society of Missionary Children we would like to thank the many,
many children, teachers, parents & parishes who support us each year. Your
generosity towards our littlest ones is very humbling indeed. You truly live out our
motto ‘Children Helping Children.’ Your prayers and donations really DO make a
difference to the lives of the children you help.
