• A protein is a polymer composed of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and sometimes sulfur.

Proteins

• The protein polymer is called a polypeptide.

• The protein monomer is called an amino acid.

• Enzymes lower the activation energy of chemical reactions by acting as a catalyst.
