    Training & Placement Policies for Students

    Training and Placement is an important activity in professional education. IIIT

    Bhubaneswar invests significant amount of effort and energy to make successfulplacement of its students.

    The success in placement depends on our ability to attract, engage and impress therecruiting companies with the attitude, aptitude, knowledge, skills and motivational

    quotient of our students.

    This policy is designed to ensure that the Institute and the Students will attain their

    potential in attracting good companies, engaging with them through proper attitude,and impress them with knowledge and skills.

    The Institute will conduct a number of activities prior to the placement, during the

    placement and after the placement. These activities will include pre-placement

    training, seminars by industry leaders, pre-placement presentations by recruitingcompanies, coding and other competitions etc. Such activities are designed to

    prepare a student to face the recruitment process, and engage the recruiting

    companies so that they go back with favourable impression of our students and willengage with the Institute in the long term.

    Participation and performance in such activities is mandatory for students desiring toparticipate placement programme.

    Participation and performance in such activities will be awarded marks. Students

    scoring less than 80 % will not be allowed to take part in the placement programme..

    The scoring pattern for some of the common placement activities are given below.

    (@) Pre Placement Training:

    A Pre assessment test will be conducted for all the students before start of the Pre-placement training. The students who score more than 80% in any of the modules

    such as Quantitative Aptitude, Analytical and Verbal Reasoning, Soft Skills, English

    need not participate in the Pre Placement Training in that module. The students whoscore less than 80% in any of the module are required to attend the Pre Placement

    Training classes in corresponding modules. However, all students are required toobtain satisfactory performance to participate in Placement programmes.

    (#) Seminar, Pre-placement Presentation:

    To create a good impression with recruitment agencies, the Placement office willannounce the names of the students who have to attend the workshops/seminars. It is

    mandatory for the nominated students to attend the seminar or presentation. Habitual

    absence from such events shall be treated as an act of indiscipline and the Placementoffice may debar the students from placement programme.

    (&) Competitions

    The Institute as well as other agencies organize competitions such as coding,quizzing, debating etc. The recruiting companies take a favourable view of the

    Institute where students engage in competitive events. The students are encouragedto actively participate in such events.

    (*) Volunteering

    The placement office relies on volunteering services of students to successfully carry

    out thevarious activities. The Placement office will announce the names of the studentswho will do the volunteer work during placement activities. It is mandatory for the

    nominated students to do the work assigned to them. Habitual absence from such

    events shall be treated as an act of indiscipline and the Placement office may debar

    the students from placement programme.

    Placement drives:

    All the eligible students must attend the placement drives and maintain goodconduct.

    Student should abide by the rules of fair conduct and not engage in any

    activity during a placement drive which will risk the name and reputation of

    the institute.

    If a student caught doing something unlawful/immoral then student will be

    debarred from all the Placement Drives.
