Curtailment Problem
Sometimes solar and wind power plants are disconnected from grid. In South Korea, Wind power plants in Jeju islands were disconnected 77 times in 2020. The renewables do not require fuels, and do not produce Green House Gas (GHG). Therefore, it is not just economical loss but also environmental loss.
Stability of Electricity Grid
To maintain the grid stability, we must find balance between supply and demand. Or there could be catastrophic situation such as black-out. In South Korea 60 Hertz is the frequency of the grid when those condition is met.
