Hi Parents,

I hope you are all keeping well and safe. I understand this is a very challenging

time and that the well-being of you and your children is paramount. I would like

to remind you that the work I am suggesting can be treated as a menu to choose

from rather than a list to be completed. There are no deadlines for the work and

the girls can work through it at their own pace.

I would emphasise the importance of a daily timetable. We understand that

children may get up much earlier, and go to bed later than is suggested below!

This is simply an example:

Time Activity

9.00am-10.00am Out of bed, play and get dressed

10.00am-10.30am TG4 Cúla4 Ar Scoil

10.30am-11.00am Breakfast, tidy up and household jobs

11.00am-12.00pm RTE Home School Hub on RTE2

12.00pm-1.00pm School work

1.00pm-2.00pm Lunch and play time

2.00pm-3.00pm School work

3.00pm-4.00pm Outdoor exercise time

4.00pm-5.00pm Creative time - reading, art, dance, music, drama, baking

5.00pm-6.00pm Project time: a time to work on a specific project like

writing a book, colouring, a specific project in an area of

interest etc.

6.00pm-7.00pm Help prepare dinner and tidy up

7.00pm-8.00pm Family activity time-board games, limited TV etc.

Below is a table of suggestions your child could complete at home. I have given a

mixture of RTE2 Home School Hub activities, online activities and practical

activities that do not require the use of internet/devices.

Home School Hub @ 11.00am. You will

learn about different types of poems.

Create your own Limerick poem.

Gaeilge:

Each morning from 10.00 – 10.30am,

TG4 has a home school programme

named ‘Cúla 4 Ar Scoil’

The theme this week on Cúla4 Ar

Scoil is clothes (éadaí)

Try to tune in each morning to learn

all about clothes in Irish

Irish words for the clothes we wear:

Éadaí = clothes

Bríste = trousers

Seaicéad = jacket

Cóta = coat

Lámhainní = gloves

Culaith spóirt= tracksuit

Culaith snámha = swimsuit

Gloiní snámha = goggles

Maybe somebody at home could call

out the English word and you say the

Irish word like the Irish game we play

in school.

Home School Hub @ 11.00am we learn

a song in French! We’re going to learn

the different parts of the body in

French and then sing about them using

a famous song called ‘Alouette’.

Art:

Cherry Blossom Tree Art

- You may have noticed a lot of

cherry blossom trees are

blooming

- Using the pictures below as

inspiration, create your own

cherry blossom tree

painting/colouring/drawing

- If you have paints you may

choose to use your fingerprints

P.E.:

You will need:

A timer or somebody to count to 1

minute (60 seconds) for you

- Count how many jumping jacks

you can get in 1 minute

- Count how many burpees you can

do in 1 minute

- Count how many push ups you

can do in 30 seconds

Drama:

Pretend you are a news reporter for

RTE and create a short drama to

perform for your family giving the

people of Ireland some ideas of how

they can spend their time at home e.g.

card games, board games, family quiz,

playing in the garden/park near home,

sports activities, reading, writing in a

diary etc.

Active HOME Week

(April 27th – May 3rd)

National ‘Active SCHOOL

Week’ takes place every April and is a

really enjoyable part of the school

year for many children.

This year, because of COVID-19, it is

not possible for this to go ahead so

we are asking you to participate in

the ‘Active HOME Week‘ challenge

instead.

I have attached a PDF of the

Challenge Chart to the school

website and some activity ideas

below.
