into the lens to create a chemical bond resulting in one unique material. This process also insures that the

protective molecules cover the lens surface perfectly which keeps contaminants from adhering to the lens.

p Hydrophobic Properties - C-WALL repels water, sweat, and other liquids by offering a greater contact

angle of the water droplet. This results in a drop angle of 116 degrees which helps contaminants

wipe off effortlessly.

sticking onto the surface of the lens, which makes cleaning easier.

Costa 580P (polycarbonate) lenses are our latest, greatest achievement. When we

introduced 580 technology in glass, we immediately began being asked when we’d

offer a polycarbonate version. “As soon as it’s possible”, was our response. Truth is,

we weren’t about to put out a polycarbonate 580 lens until we found a material that

would allow us clarity and durability worthy of Costa. After more than two years of

testing and refinement, we nailed it. And when people try on a pair, they’ll see that

our patience paid off. Here are the nuts and bolts of our newest technology-rich lens.

Just like Costa 580G, our new Costa 580P lenses block yellow light, boost red and green light, and

increase polarizing efficiency. They are the clearest lenses on the planet.

The reason people love polycarbonate lenses in their sunglasses is first and foremost because

they’re lightweight. With the introduction of 580P, they can now get Costa 580 clarity in a pair of

sunglasses that are so lightweight they might forget they’re even on.

We know the type of people who wear Costas and we know the type of things they spend their time

doing. Costa 580P lenses have been tested to meet or exceed the rigorous impact standards set

forth by the American National Standards Institute, including ANSI Z80.3 and ANSI Z87.1.

D U R A B L E

For the 580P lens we developed a proprietary coating called C-WALL. The C-WALL coating is a

molecular bonding process with an oleophobic, hydrophobic hard coating that repels water, oil,

dust and scratches. Our customers work hard and play hard, and 580P is ready. Yellow light occurs at 580 nanometers and it’s really hard on your eyes because it creates ‘visual

noise.’ Only Costa’s patented 580 technology blocks this yellow light and with it the appearance

of haze and blur, because we own the patents.

Because the lenses block yellow light, they boost the amounts of reds, greens and blues naturally.

This creates enhanced contrast, which is key for any activity where visual acuity is at a premium.
