The Seder is intended to be a personal ex- perience. It should not, however, be a private one. One should look upon the Exodus as an event of the present, not of the past. One should feel that he is leaving his personal Egypt, i.e., going beyond all the boundaries and limita- tions that confine his essen- tial G-dly nature. Yet, the Torah teaches us that this realization should be experienced communally. The Paschal sacrifice, it com- mands, should be offered "for your families." However personal our Passover expe- rience is, we should share and celebrate it together with our families -- immedi- ate and extended. Each per- son extends a hand to an- other, helping him or her understand and taste Redemption. The Haggadah points to this concept in its discussion of the four sons. It is not only the wise who are gathered at the Seder table, but also the simple, those who identi- fy Jewishly and appreciate observance, but have difficul- ty verbalizing their identifica- tion. They are joined by those who do not know how to ask -- those who know that they are Jewish, but know little more than that, who do not know where to begin looking to find out more about their faith. And together with them comes the wicked -- Jews who challenge observance, but at the same time, want to share in the Seder experi- ence. Whatever their per- sonal or ideological peeves with Jewish practice, they feel that on Passover night, they belong at a Seder. These sons celebrate the Seder together. They do not make separate Seders; they come together at the same table. They are all part of the same people, and the experience of redemption that each is seeking is inter- twined with that of the oth- er. noise and money experi-

ments, and optical illu-

sions.

Torah Tots gave children

the opportunity to make

Hamentaschen, food gifts,

and Purim masks.

Chabad’s first night Purim

Party, growing every year

to over eighty people at-

tending this year, featured

a megillah reading, mas-

querade, cocktails, deli-

cious chocolates and

Hamentaschen.

And of course, Purim at

Chabad would not be the

same without its annual

Purim Bash themed this

year to Purim USA!

Chabad of Bradenton &

Lakewood Ranch does

Purim right! There were

over five programs taking

place on or around Purim

to educate, raise aware-

ness, and most important-

ly to bring the joy of Pu-

rim to the entire Jewish

community.

The Purim Gift project

brought the joy of Purim

to over 200 Jewish fami-

lies with traditional food

gifts being delivered to

homes all across Manatee

County.
