Summer Placement’19 CDPO, IIM Calcutta is pleased to present its final report on Summer Placement Process for the 56th batch. It was one of the largest batches in IIMC’s 56 year old history with 480 students. The Class of 2021 impressed more than 130 recruiters adjudicating the talent on offer. The class was placed across various sectors including Consulting (23%), Sales and Marketing (21%), Finance (20%), General Management (14%), Operations and E-Commerce (13%), and Product Management (9%). Overall, it is safe to say that IIM Calcutta lived up to its reputation of a talent powerhouse with a very robust pace of offers and a smoother flow of operations. Our transition to a new automation system for managing students and their schedule of GDs and Interviews turned out to be very successful. The students were also able to have multiple offers allowing them to have a shot at their “Dream” organizations. The new system is geared to balance student and recruiter interests. It provides real time updates about a student’s status with excellent tracking capabilities for troubleshooting, effectively resulting in information sharing and reducing conflicts across the board. While students are assured of their chances with minimal waiting time; all the recruiters in a cohort are treated at par. The combination allowed the students to maximise their appearances; and the recruiters to effectively meet the market conditions. Of course, the competition on all sides was intense. The outgoing placement team must be proud of its achievement of process transformation, meeting student demands, and working together to drive a customer- centric organization. As we understand about change, the journey shall continue. CDPO remains committed to refine the processes further to meet various stakeholder demands.
