Pesach Jeopardy! 2010‐5770, by Rafi and Adena Goldrich
Here’s a Pesach spin on a popular US game show, Jeopardy! For the uninitiated Jeopardy! is a
question and answer game, except that the “answers” must be phrased as a question,
which is deduced from the clue and the category.
For example, if the category is “US Capitals” and the clue is “The capital city where Honest
Abe spent his time as a lawyer”, the answer would be “What is Springfield?” (the capital
of Illinois). Contestants are awarded the dollar / point / nut (you choose your currency)
value of the clue for a correct “question”, and deducted the point value for an incorrect
question.
The playing board for Jeopardy is as shown below. The clues are hidden behind the dollar
amount and exposed once chosen by a contestant.

Categories
Yes, the dollar amounts
are larger on today’s
show, but we can’t
keep up!
Pesach Jeopardy! does include two full rounds of 30 questions as well as Daily Doubles in each round. For a full overview of the game and its rules, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeopardy! and adapt them to your seder as you see fit.
We have attempted to make the questions appeal to a broad age range of sederparticipants. There is nothing wrong with interspersing general knowledge questions or categories with the Jewish / Pesach content. The idea is to keep everyone interested (and awake)!
Reflecting our own background, some clues of this game have an US cultural bias that may not speak to others. But fret not brothers from the UK (and its other colonies ;-) – the game comes with blank slides for you to write your own clues and questions.

Pesach Jeopardy! - constructing your board
People have devised different ways to make the Jeopardy! board. The best idea
we have seen uses clear nylon page protector sleeves for each board square. The
dollar amounts, clues, and Daily Double signs (for both rounds) can be loaded into
the sleeves, which are then mounted onto a wall or a board.
A full size Pesach Jeopardy! board can get quite large. You may wish to use the
half-size printout, in which case you should cut the page protectors in half.
