CEMAS and TasteWales, a Rhondda CynonTaff based SME, havecollaborated to developCauldron Caters.The app is aimed at educating children on the importance

of healthy eating. It has two initial elements, a gardening

game whereby children are taught about the seasons,

crops and how fruit and vegetables grow. Once users

harvest crops a new quest takes them into the kitchen

where they are given a meal to prepare. When healthy

meals are prepared the full recipe is unlocked allowing

the children to then make the meals at home with their

parents. There is also an encyclopaedia to educate

children about good and bad foods.

Taste Wales, the company behind the app, run a fruit

and vegetable business whose long-term aim is to get

more people eating healthy, thinking about the importance

of healthy food and in turn buying their produce locally

from Taste Wales.

CEMAS has supported this project by working

on the first phase (gardening/cooking) game.

They have not only provided the programming,

but have been great in assisting and offering support

and ideas on the creative side also. Without CEMAS

I would never have gotten the project off the ground

due to financial constraints. Now with this phase

being completed, I can turn to investors to fully

develop my project.
