    The CEMAS Mobile App Workshop, Bridgend,

    has been set up to help small businesses

    realise the potential of developing a mobile

    app which can improve and support their

    business. The event offers advice on preparing

    for app development to save you time and

    money and 1-2-1 sessions with CEMAS

    experts to talk about app development anddesign. In addition, the workshop sessions

    will give you the opportunity to think about

    taking your idea and turning it in to an app

    looking at its features, design and how it can

    be monetised.

    The Centre of Excellence in Mobile Applications and

    Services (CEMAS) supports business in the Convergence

    Area of Wales to reduce the initial risks associated with

    developing new mobile applications. This presentation

    will provide a summary of the assistance provided andthe eligibility criteria for engaging with the programme.

    Clayton has been involved in the development and

    ongoing management of CEMAS since 2009, and formally

    joined the team in January 2014. He graduated from the

    University of Glamorgan (now South Wales) in 1999 with

    an MBA and is a qualified PRINCE 2 and MSP Practitioner.

    Clayton has over 10 years experience of working in the

    field of European project management.

    Have the idea for the next big app but need a little help

    getting it off the ground? CEMAS is here to help, but what

    can you do to make that process even more efficient?

    This talk will guide you through the very first steps of

    app development. Learn about story-boards, user storytemplates wire-framing, prototyping and all the tools us

    developers have in our arsenal to make a good idea great.

    Michael graduated in Computer Science at Cardiff

    University in 2010 and has over 3 years experience in

    developing mobile apps. He enjoys reading, exercising,

    watching movies and long walks on the beach.

    iRally, developed in Wales and operated by Ruthin-based

    iRally Media Limited, has been the big media success of

    rallying over the past 4 years. While traditional motorsport

    media has declined sharply, iRally has created a huge

    worldwide audience of some 700,000 rally fans. Its also

    used with respect by top drivers and team managers,

    and those who promote and govern the sport.

    Editor Greg Strange talks about what they got right,

    why it has succeeded, and just as important, what they

    got wrong and what they wish theyd known.

    The Game Development workshop will deliver an

    overview of the game engine, game production and a

    look into game assets and programming. The workshop

    will also focus on commonly used game mechanics,

    frequently used in most 3D games.

    John joined CEMAS from a commercial background,

    with over eight years experience in designing and

    developing web applications with the MVC software

    pattern. His educational background is in HCI

    (Human Computer Interaction) and heavily focuses

    on user centred design. John graduated in 2007 with

    a BSc in Interactive Design. To date John is focused

    on designing and developing mobile games and

    applications at CEMAS.

    This workshop will give a hands-on experience of what

    goes into making an app. Participants will develop

    prototypes based on their ideas and also see an idea

    developed to a working app. The workshop is designed

    to give participants a clear picture of steps to get startedwith app development.

    Priyanka started working for CEMAS in 2011 after

    completing her MSc in Mobile Computing at University of

    Glamorgan (now South Wales). She received a bachelors

    degree in Information Technology from Mumbai University

    and then came to UK to pursue further what she loved

    doing as an undergraduate, programming. She has now

    programmed apps for Android, iOS and WP7 and also

    explored web development.
