Looking to buy an affordable new home but struggling because you don’t have a deposit or are unable to obtain a mortgage?

We want to help

Why not rent one of our new affordable homes and purchase later?It’s quite simple. Rent a selected property on one of our developments in South Shropshire at a discount for up to 2 years. This gives you time to save for a deposit. When you want to purchase we’ll even help you with money towards your legal costs.

As the property will be yours one day you can really start to feel relaxed and make it your long term home from the day you move in.

Can I choose the property I want?This scheme is available on selected properties and developments. Please check for the latest availability. The opportunity to purchase at a later date will be on a NewBuild HomeBuy (Shared ownership basis).

Do I have to wait 2 years before I can buy?No. You just let us know when you want to go ahead and purchase your home. A valuation takes place and the asking price is agreed.

What are the qualifying criteria?We will assess your needs and circumstances, but, ideally you will be a first time buyer or you’ll need to purchase a property in your own right in the future. Please contact us if you wish to discuss your situation.

What if my circumstances change and I am unable to buy?When you apply for this scheme we are expecting you to make a long term decision but we understand that circumstances can change. If you can’t go ahead with the purchase or wish to move you will need to give us one months notice and leave the property in good condition. This may mean paying redecoration and cleaning costs.

What if I fall behind with my rent?Rent arrears will mean that you have broken your commitment to buy and we will ask you to hand in your notice and leave the property within one month.

How do I apply?For an application form please email propertysales@ss-ha.org.uk or telephone 01588 676200 and we will send you an application form. We’ll assess your application and if suitable put you in touch with a financial advisor for the final stage of the application process.
