MIDDLE SCHOOLER’S FINISH THIRD IN ANNUAL TRACK MEET Springville girls & boys had a great afternoon on Tuesday as they hosted four other teams for its annual Spring meet. When all the points were tallied, both the girls & boys teams finished third overall. Top individual finishes on the girls side included Megan Wagaman who won 1st in the 400 meter dash. Hallie Corum finished 3rd in the 1500 meter run, Elizabeth Chapman finished 3rd in the 100 meter dash & 3rd in the long jump. Sydney Williams picked up 3rd in the 100 meter hurdles &4th in the long jump. Ashley Brady took 4th in the 200 meter hurdles & Rachel Gloeckner finished 4th in

the 800 meter run. In team events, Springville girls won the 4 x 400 & took 3rd in the Distance Medley Relay, Sprint Medley Relay, 4 x 100 & 4 x 200. In boys competition, Cody Blake won the Long Jump, took 2nd in the shot as well as the 200 meter dash, & 4th in the 100 meter dash. Trevor Hulett took 3rd in the discus & 4th in the shot. Ryan Menster finished 5th in the high jump , while Andrew Lorimer finished 3rd in the long jump. Tanner Allen took 2nd in the 100 meter hurdles, Andy Hagensick finished 3rd in the 800, Matthew Carson finished 4th in the 1600 & Brady Barner earned 3rd in the 400 meter dash. As a team, the boys took 2nd place in the 4 x 400, 4 x 800 and the sprint medley. Springville boys also took 3rd in the shuttle hurdles and the 4 x 100. What a night—great job to all the kids and coaches.

LADY O’S GOLF TEAM FINISHES SECOND AT CENTER POINT The Springville Girls Golf team headed to Center Point and Rolling Acres Golf Course for what they thought was a dual against Alburnett last Monday. When they arrived they found themselves in a quad against not only Alburnett, but also 3A schools Center Point-Urbana & Benton Community. The Springville girls would not let that or the gusting winds bother them. They placed 2nd in the meet only 9 shots behind a solid Benton Community score of 207. Springville finished with a 216, led by co-medalist Sam Smith (pictured to the left with her medal), who shot a 48. Also having solid rounds were the senior Lady O's: Katie Wyman (52), Mackenzie Nulle (57), & Hannah Loehr (59). The girls are preparing to host the Conference meet next Monday, May 9th at Meadowview Country Club in Central City. Good luck ladies.

WITH OR WITHOUT SPRING WEATHER—IT’S TIME TO PLAY BALL! Boys baseball opened up on Monday, May 2nd. Girls softball opens up next Monday, the 9th. It won’t be long and the lights will be shining every evening as another season approaches. Watch for next week’s issue, we’ll profile this season’s baseball teams. THE CHARITY STRIPE The Springville Girls Basketball program will be hosting the 1st annual "Charity Stripe Free Throw Contest" on Saturday, May 14 from 9:00-11:00am at Springville High School. All proceeds from entry fees and t-shirt sales will go to help farmers in Kenya escape poverty by helping to provide irrigation equipment through an organization called "The Adventure Project." Entry fee is $5.00 (no limit to the number of entries per person). Participants will shoot 25 free throws and compete in 4 age groups: 2nd-4th grade, 5th-7th grade, 8th-12th grade, and Adult. Winners of the two youngest divisions will receive a tro-phy. Winners of the high school and adult groups receive gift cards from Buffalo Wild Wings. Players are also selling t-shirts for $15 (each t-shirt purchase includes one free entry into the free throw contest). CONFERENCE TRACK MEET, THURSDAY, MAY 5 AT MONTICELLO Coach’s Fliehler and Howard will have the Oriole girls and boys track teams ready to compete on Thursday for Conference titles. In girls competition, Junior C.J. Fitzgerald currently sits at #5 in the 400 meter hurdle event while in the boys standings, Sophomore Jake Hulett leads the conference in the Shot Put, and Freshman Elias Nissen is 4th in the Long Jump.
