Voor de editie van dit jaar hebben we het parcours van de finale van de amstel Gold Race opnieuw aangepast. aanpassingen waar-door de koers nog lastiger te controleren is.

Vorig jaar verdween de Cauberg al uit de finale van de Amstel Gold Race en hebben we gezien dat we door een simpele wijziging een attractievere wedstrijd hebben gekregen. Met de nieuwe wijziging van dit jaar moeten de kanshebbers op de overwinning zich nu voor de finale echt goed positioneren. Of al ten aanval zijn getrokken.

Wie gaat deze editie winnen? Weer twee grote namen zoals Philippe Gilbert en Anna van der breggen? Wil je de Amstel Gold Race winnen, dit geldt overigens ook voor de andere voorjaarsklassiekers, dan moet je een toprenner zijn.

te vroeg springen, dan ben je eraan. te laat, zal met dit nieuwe parcours helemaal kansloos zijn. Dit is het wielrennen op hoog niveau. Alleen de allerbesten kunnen met deze druk omgaan.

Wij wensen u veel spanning en plezier bij dit al meer dan een halve eeuw oude wielerspektakel.

Last year the Cauberg disappeared from the final of the Amstel Gold Race and we have seen that through a simple change, we got a more attractive race. Na 100 kilometer kwam Gilbert immers - na de afdaling van het Drielandenpunt in Vaals - hard ten val en belandde kermend van de pijn in het gras langs de weg. hij besloot - ondanks hevige pijn in zijn rug - niet op te geven en toch weer op zijn stalen ros te kruipen. En niet zonder succes. hij klopte in de sprint een eveneens oud-Amstel Gold Race-winnaar: michał Kwiatkowski. Even later kwam michael Albasini als derde over de eindstreep gesprint. Na de huldiging vertrok een krom lo-pende Gilbert direct naar het zieken-huis. "ik maakte een harde smak op de grond. mijn eerste gedachte was dat mijn koers er op zat. ik had veel pijn. ik besloot het toch nog even te proberen. met behulp van mijn ploeg keerde ik terug in het peloton en kon

steeds verder naar voren opschuiven. Net op tijd. toen ik in het voorste gedeelte zat brak het peloton in stukken. Al met al was het een emotionele dag voor me. Zeker om na zo'n rollercoaster alsnog te winnen. het waren de meest intense 100 kilometer van mijn leven."

Na de finishlijn te zijn gepasseerd werd de pijn in de rechter-zij steeds heviger en moest hij naar het ziekenhuis. hij mocht overnachten in het ziekenhuis. Na een rustperiode van tien dagen klom hij weer op de fiets. Gilbert - hij won vorig jaar ook de Ronde van Vlaanderen - is voorlopig nog niet klaar met wielrennen. De 35-jarige koning der klassiekers tekende bij zijn ploeg een nieuw twee-jarig contract. "

last year was a unique victory for the belgian during a more than attrac-tive race in which the Cauberg was no longer included in the final kilometres for the first time in many years. After 100 kilometres, Gilbert fell– after the downhill of the three borders in Vaals – and was badly wounded after landing on the grass along the road. he decided – in spite of severe pain in his back – not to abandon and so he crawled back onto his bike. And not without success. in the sprint he beat another former winner of the Amstel Gold Race: michał Kwiatkowski. A little while later, michael Albasini arrived third at the finish line after his sprint. After the ceremony Gilbert left straight for the hospital. “i fell heavily to the ground. my first thought was that my race was over. i had a

lot of pain. still i decided to try again. With the help of my team, i returned to the peloton and gradually reached the front. just in time. As soon as i was in the front, the peloton broke up. All in all, it was an emotional day for me with such a rollercoaster and yet a victory. they were the most intense 100 kilometres of my life.

After having passed the finish line, the pain on his right side became more severe and he had to go to hospital: “he stayed overnight in the hospital. After ten days of rest, he got back on his bike. As for now, Gilbert – who also won the tour of flanders last year – is not yet done with cycling. the 35-year-old king of clas-sics has signed a new three-year contract with his team.”

Philippe Gilbert en Jan Raas hebben veel gemeen als het om wedstrijden in en rondom Valkenburg betreft. Jan Raas won immers in 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980 én 1982 de enige Neder-landse wielerklassieker. Raas werd op de plek waar nu ook de finish van de Amstel Gold Race ligt in 1979 wereldkampioen. Gilbert won dus al vier keer de Nederlandse klassieker en werd op de Rijksweg in het Val-ken burgse Vilt in 2012 de beste van de wereld.

Aast Gilbert ook op die unieke vijfde zege? "Dat zou fantastisch zijn. Als het mogelijk is laat ik die kans zeker niet schieten. maar ik moet eerlijk zijn, ik ben ook al meer dan tevreden met vier zeges in de Amstel Gold Race. En dat op drie verschillende parkoersen." De wegen in limburg zijn dan ook op het lijf van de belg geschreven, die op een steenworp van de finishlijn, in Verviers, is geboren: "in het heuvelland heb ik altijd veel getraind. En nog kom ik er zeer geregeld en graag trainen. ik ken de weg dus op mijn duimpje. En dan ben je toch een beetje in het voordeel. ook al omdat ik op die kleine heuvels zeer explosief kan zijn."

Dit jaar zal Gilbert weer tot de favorieten gerekend mogen worden. Dat de slotfase over smallere wegen leidt en de Cauberg opnieuw in de finale ontbreekt, deert hem niet. "De nieuwe finale eist meer van de rijders, het zijn technischere wegen. in het voor-deel van de aanvallers en dus ook voor mij."

het was vorig jaar een bijzondere overwinning voor de belg in een meer dan attractieve koers waarbij in de slotkilometers de Cau-berg voor het eerst sinds jaren niet meer was opgenomen.

Philippe Gilbert and Jan Raas have a lot in common with regard to races revolving around Valkenburg. Jan Raas won the only cycling Dutch classic in 1977, 1978, 1989, 1980 and 1982. Raas became world champion in 1979, at the same place where the finish line of the Amstel Gold Race is set nowadays. So Gilbert won the Dutch classic four times and became the best of the world on the Rijksweg in Vilt (Valkenburg).

is Gilbert also aiming at a unique fifth triumph? “that would be fantastic. if i have the possibility, i will not let this opportunity pass by. but i need to be honest, i am also more than happy with my four victories in the Amstel Gold Race. And this with three differ-ent routes.” the streets in south-limburg also fit the belgian like a glove. he was born at a stone’s throw from the finish line, in Verviers: “i have always trained a lot in the heuvelland. And i still come very regularly and am glad to train here. i know the roads like the back of my hand. that gives you a slight advantage. that is also why i can be very explosive on these little hills.”

this year, Gilbert can again be counted among the favourites. the fact that the final phase runs on narrower roads and the Cauberg will again be missing in the finale do not worry him. “the new finale requires more from the riders, there are technical roads. this is an advantage for the attackers and therefore also for me.”

For the 4th year, Maastricht is set to host the world's largest triathlon/endurance sport event: IRONMAN. This year's event will once again include an IRONMAN Night Run on Friday 3 August and an IRONKids event on Saturday 4 August. This is a cross-border triathlon and will cross into Belgian Limburg. The start, fi nish, and transition zone will all be located in the centre of Maastricht. Visitors will be able to cheer on the athletes from several locations along the course. Jaarlijks krijgt de Stichting Amstel Gold Race vele verzoeken om goede doelen te ondersteunen. De Stichting heeft ook in 2018 ervoor gekozen om zich aan één goed doel te koppelen. Om de Ronald McDonald Kindervallei te steunen zal de Stichting het handtekeningenbord ter beschikking stellen voor een veiling waarvan de opbrengst in z’n geheel bestemd is voor de Ronald McDonald Kindervallei.

WAT IS DE RONALD MCDONALD KINDERVALLEI? Ronald mcDonald Kindervallei in houthem (Valkenburg a/d Geul) is een sprookjes-achtig vakantieverblijf voor kinderen en jongeren met een lichamelijke of meer-voudige beperking. Gezinnen kunnen in de Kindervallei logeren, even een paar uurtjes tot rust komen of vakantie vieren. het unieke gebouw ligt vlak bij het revali-datiecentrum van Adelante Zorggroep en biedt de ouders de mogelijkheid dicht bij hun revaliderende kind te overnachten in een vriendelijke omgeving. hiervoor heeft de Kindervallei zes gastenkamers ter be-

van start tot finishEntropia werkt geruisloos achter de schermen van grote sportmanifestaties. Stabiele communicatie en efficiënte coördinatie zijn noodzakelijk om een evenement te doen slagen. Tijdens de Amstel Gold Race op 14 & 15 april 2018, zorgt ons mobiele netwerk ervoor dat alle operationele medewerkers vlot hun werk kunnen doen en de veiligheid gegarandeerd wordt.

We leveren spraakcommunicatie tussen portofoons onderling en een centrale meldkamer, de ComBus. Entropia weet niet of uw favoriete renner de wedstrijd zal winnen, maar voor een vlekkeloze communicatie staan we wel garant. In het hele Amstel Gold Race gebied kunt u via het Entropia missie-kritische TETRA-netwerk vrij de Radio Tour beluisteren op de Entropia frequentie 150,1375 Mhz. Veel luisterplezier!


REGlEmENt HEREN REGUlAtIONS mEN

Artikel 1: ORGANISATIE De 53e Amstel Gold Race wordt georganiseerd door de stichting Amstel Gold Race volgens het reglement van de internationale Wielerunie UCi.

De wedstrijd zal op zondag 15 april 2018 verreden worden.

Artikel 2: WEDSTRIJDCATEGORIE De wedstrijd zal verreden worden binnen de categorie Elite mannen. De wedstrijd behoort tot de UCi Worldtour wielerkalender. Volgens het

reglement van de UCi geldt onderstaande puntentabel, deze punten worden verrekend in het UCi Worldtour klassement.

Artikel 3: DEELNAME Volgens artikel 2.1.005 van het UCi-reglement zijn UCi World teams en UCi Professional Continental teams in het bezit van een wildcard label

startgerechtigd. Volgens artikel 2.2.003 van het UCi-reglement mogen per ploeg maximaal 7 en minimaal 5 wielrenners deelnemen aan de wedstrijd.

Artikel 4: PERMANENCE De permanence is op zaterdag 14 april 2018 geopend van 14:00 tot 18:00 uur en op zondag 15 april 2018 van 07:30 tot 10:30 uur in het stadhuis,

markt 78, 6211 Cl te maastricht. De accreditaties van de ploegen kunnen door de ploegleider worden opgehaald op zaterdag 14 april tussen 14:00 en 15:25 uur. De ploegleidersvergadering, georganiseerd overeenkomstig artikel 1.2.087 van het reglement van de UCi, zal bij aanwezigheid van de wedstrijdcommissarissen plaatsvinden op zaterdag 14 april 2018 om 16:00 in de permanence.

Artikel 5: RADIO TOUR De informatie over de wedstrijd zal te beluisteren zijn via Radio tour op 155.0125 mhz , of in heel Zuid-limburg op 150.1375mhz.

Artikel 6: NEUTRALE MATERIAALONDERSTEUNING De neutrale materiaalondersteuning wordt verzorgd door shimano. De neutrale materiaalservice zal bestaan uit 4 neutrale materiaalwagens en 2 motoren.

Artikel 7: TIJDSOVERSCHRIJDING iedere wielrenner die een tijdsoverschrijding heeft van meer dan 8% van de door de winnaar gereden tijd zal niet worden opgenomen in de uitslag.

met uitzondering van vertragingen die te wijten zijn aan bijzondere omstandigheden die door de wedstrijdcommissarissen in overleg met de organisatie zijn goedgekeurd.

Artikel 8: PRIJZENGELD het prijzengeld is vastgesteld door de UCi op 1 januari 2018. totaal prijzengeld van de Amstel Gold Race 2018 bedraagt € 40.000,-

Artikel 9: ANTIDOPING CONTROLE De medische controle is gesitueerd bij sporthal De bosdries, Valkenburgerstraat 115, 6325 bm berg en terblijt.

Artikel 10: HULDIGING a. Volgens artikel 1.2.112 van het reglement van de UCi dienen de volgende renners zich te melden bij de huldiging:

�•�De�nummer�1,�2,�3�van�de�wedstrijduitslag; •�De�leider�van�het�UCI�WorldTour�klassement,�indien�aanwezig�en�na�toekenning�van�de�punten�van�de�verreden�wedstrijd; •�De�strijdlustigste�wielrenner,�die�de�Herman�Krott�Trofee�zal�krijgen.

b. De wielrenners dienen zich maximaal 5 minuten na aankomst te melden bij het huldigingspodium.

Artikel 11: OVERTREDINGEN het straffenbarema van de UCi is van toepassing tijdens deze wedstrijd.

Article 1: ORGANIZATION the 53rd Amstel Gold Race is organized by the Amstel Gold Race foundation under the rules of the international Cycling Union UCi.

the race will be held on sunday 15 April 2018.

Article 2: RACE CATEGORy the race will be held in the category Elite men. the race belongs to the UCi Worldtour cycling calendar. According to the regulation of the UCi the

point table below, the points will be calculated in the UCi Worldtour ranking.

Article 3: PARTICIPATION According to article 2.1.005 of the UCi-regulation are UCi World teams and UCi Professional Continental teams in the possession of a wildcard label

are able to start. According to article 2.2.003 of the UCi-regulation teams can start with a maximum of 7 riders and a minimum of 5 riders in the race.

Article 4: PERMANENCE (RACE HEADqUARTERS) the race headquarters is open on saturday 14 April 2018 from 14:00-18:00h and on sunday 15 April 2018 from 07:30-10:30h at the City hall, markt 78,

6211 Cl in maastricht. the accreditations of the teams can be picked up by the teammanagers on saturday 14 April between 14:00-15:25h. the teammanagers-meeting, organized according to article 1.2.087 of the UCi-regulation, will take place on saturday 14 April 2018 at 16:00h in the presence of the commissaires at the race headquarters.

Article 5: RADIO TOUR the information about the race can be heard on Radio tour, with frequency 155.0125 mhz, or in the whole region of south-limburg on 150.1375mhz.

Article 6: NEUTRAL SUPPORT the neutral support will be provided by shimano. the neutral support will exist of 4 neutral cars and 2 neutral motorcycles.

Article 7: TIME LIMITATION Every rider who has exceeded the time limit of more than 8% of the time of the winner of the race will not be included in the result of the race.

Except in case the delay is caused by special conditions that are approved by the commissaire in consultation with the organisation.

Article 8: PRIZE MONEy the prize money is set by the UCi on 1 january 2018. the total amount of the prize money of the Amstel Gold Race totals up to € 40.000,-

Article 9: MEDICAL CONTROL the medical control is situated at sports hall De bosdries, Valkenburgerstraat 115, 6325 bm berg en terblijt.

Article 10: HONOURING CEREMONy a. According to article 1.2.112 of the UCi regulation the following riders have to report themselves for the awards ceremony:

•�Number�1,�2,�3�of�the�race; •�The�leader�of�the�UCI�WorldTour�classification,�when�present�and�after�the�calculation�of�the�points�of�the�ridden�race; •�The�most�combative�rider,�who�will�receive�the�Herman�Krott�Trophy.

b. the riders need to report themselves within 5 minutes after the finish to the honouring podium.

Herman Krott, the founder of the Amstel Gold Race which died in 2010 is called “Mister Amstel Gold Race”. Amstel Brewery decided at his farewell as the organizer and race director to connect Herman Krott and the Amstel Gold Race eternity.

therefore, the herman Krott trophy was created. Annually, leo van Vliet - race director of the Amstel Gold Race, this year for the twenty-second time chooses the most combative rider. it is not a choice based on achieved classifications, but based on performance and combativeness during the race. the win-ner will receive the herman Krott trophy.

Herman Krott, de in 2010 overleden grondlegger van de Amstel Gold Race, wordt in wielrenkringen niet voor niets ‘Mister Amstel Gold Race’ genoemd. De Amstel Brouwerij besloot bij zijn afscheid als organisator en wedstrijddirecteur in 1995 om Herman Krott en de Amstel Gold Race eeuwig aan elkaar te verbinden.

Daarom werd de herman Krott trofee in het leven geroepen. jaar-lijks wordt door leo van Vliet - koersdirecteur van de Amstel Gold Race, dit jaar voor de tweeëntwintigste keer - de meest strijd-lustige renner gekozen. Dus geen keuze op basis van de behaalde klassering, maar voor de geleverde prestatie en strijdlust tijdens de koers. De winnaar ontvangt de herman Krott trofee.

Van jongs af aan was ik gefascineerd door wielren-nen, maakten we eigen ‘wedstrijden’ en volg-den het via de radio en krant. De passie voor wielrennen werd intensiever toen ik kennis-maakte met mijn wielrennende schoonvader Victor Reijnaerts. Met hem ging ik naar de baan in Rocourt en samen keken we op tv eindeloos naar elke klassieker en de Tour.

De eerste Amstel Gold Race finish in 1966 in mijn woonplaats meerssen en diverse overwinningen zoals die van jean stablinski, jan Raas en frans maassen met fondriest, maakten me helemaal gek van de Am-stel Gold Race en zorgden voor een historische plek in mijn geheugen.

De beelden van vroeger staan in mijn geheugen gebeiteld en maakten zo’n diepe indruk dat ze een terugkerend thema werden in mijn schil-derijen en bronzen beelden. toen 10 jaar geleden het verzoek kwam van leo van Vliet om een bronzen trofee te maken voor de Amstel Gold Race was ik vereerd. onze enige klassieker met een winnaar die op het podium staat met mijn brons. Afgelopen jaar is er de trofee voor de dames bij gekomen, heel erg mooi dat vorig jaar gelijk olympisch kampioen Anna van der breggen de eerste was die hem kreeg.

From an early age I was fascinated by cycling, we made our own 'competitions' and followed it via

radio and newspaper. The passion for cycling became more intense when I met my father-in-law, cyclist Victor Reijnaerts. Together with him I went to the course in Rocourt and

together we endlessly watched every classic and the Tour on TV.

the first Amstel Gold Race finish in 1966 in my hometown meerssen and several victories like the one of jean stablinski, jan Raas and frans maassen with fondriest, made me crazy about the Amstel Gold Race and created a historic place in my memory.

the images of the past are engraved in my memory and made such a deep impression that they became a recurring theme in my paintings and bronze sculptures. 10 years ago, when leo van Vliet’s request came to make a bronze trophy for the Amstel Gold Race, i was honoured. our only classic with a winner standing on the podium with my bronze. last year we added the trophy for the ladies edition, magnificent that olympic champion Anna van der breggen was the first to get him.

De stichting medische ondersteuning sportevenementenstichting mos heeft tot doel om (sport)evenementen en sport-wedstrijden te ondersteunen en te begeleiden met verantwoorde medische zorg. het team van stichting mos bestaat uit professio-nele hulpverleners, die als vrijwilliger actief betrokken willen zijn bij de zorgverlening tijdens (sport)evenementen. stichting mos werkt onder meer met artsen, (ambulance)verpleegkundigen, Ehbo’ers, (ambulance)chauffeurs en zorgt voor alle deelnemers. Alle ondersteuning gebeurt volgens de geldende kwaliteitseisen en is op maat afgestemd op het evenement.

het secretariaat van stichting mos zorgt voor coördinatie van alle activiteiten. organisatoren van evenementen kunnen zich melden voor de aanvraag van ondersteuning. het secretariaat zorgt voor het formeren van teams van vrijwilligers, voor afstemming met overheid, zorginstellingen en ambulance-voorzieningen en voor samenwerking met partners op het gebied van sportmedische zorg en ambulancezorg.

stichting mos aims to support (sport) events and competitions with medical care. the team of stichting mos contains professional medical staff which are voluntarily involved in the provision of care at (sporting) events. stichting mos works with doctors, paramedics, emergency nurses and (ambulance) drivers. stichting mos takes care of all participants. All medical support is given according to current quality standards and is adapted to every event.

the secretariat coordinates all events. Event organizers can contact the secretariat for support of their event. the agency is responsible for the formation of teams of volunteers, coordina-tion with government, healthcare and ambulance services and for cooperation with partners in the field of sports medical care and ambulance services.

olympic Champion of Rio de janeiro was the best racing cyclist of the UCi World tour classification.

Anna – who rides once again for boels-Dolmans, two limburg-based sponsors – looks forward to another gratifying experience in the Amstel Gold Race. “Riding a classic for both sponsors. And then again also in such a beautiful race. When you see the crowd at the start at the maastricht markt, the media coverage that is there, all of this is really awesome!”

this year also Van der breggen has had a good preparation time. she trained in italy and japan and participated in a mountain

bike stage race in Cyprus. What are her plans for this year? “once again, the Amstel Gold Race is naturally beauti-ful. but i have more teammates who would like to win this beautiful race. so long as it goes to one of our girls, i find it wonderful. moreover, i personally have no specific race on my wish-list. Naturally, this April period is important, there are three big races within a few days. And of course, later on i will participate in the World Championships but that will already be september, after which we will be at the end of the season.”

A year later today, she still looks back at her victory at the Amstel Gold Race with emotion. “Finally this race is being organised for women. For years, we have been feeling a bit jealous of the men when we watched them ride in this famous race. But it is now quite clear that the Amstel Gold Race for ladies is here to stay!”

Van der breggen finds it almost obvious that the Amstel Gold Race should also exist for women: “We have so many good and strong riders. moreover, there are wonderful hills here and of course there is the Cauberg. such a race on the Dutch territory simply cannot be missing.” on this Dutch hill, Anna was cheered on by the crowd. “Everyone shouted my name. Despite the suffering on the Cauberg i enjoyed it from beginning to end. so did my team manager. i heard him through my headset, already cele brating on this hill. but i thought: i first need to climb the Cauberg again, because it is and remains a major challenge. moreover, in that moment i didn’t know exactly how great my advantage was. but all these encouragements from the crowd…wonderful!”

Van der breggen was not only the fastest in Valkenburg last year, she also achieved major successes elsewhere. she managed to sign her name on the winners’ list at liège-bastogne-liège, the flèche Wallonne and the Giro Rosa, among others. furthermore, at the end of the year the

successen. Zo wist ze onder meer luik-bastenaken-luik, Waalse Pijl en de Giro Rosa op haar naam te zetten. bovendien was de olym-pisch kampioene van Rio de janeiro aan het einde van het jaar de beste wielrenster in het UCi Worldtour klasse-ment.

Anna – die in boels-Dolmans ook nog eens twee in limburg gevestigde sponsoren heeft - kijkt vol genoegdoening terug op haar zege in de Amstel Gold Race. "Rijden in een klassieker voor eigen publiek. En dan ook nog in zo'n mooie koers. Als je bij het vertrek de massa op de markt ziet, de media-aandacht die er is, dan is dat toch geweldig!"

ook dit jaar heeft Van der breggen zich goed voorbereid. Zo trainde ze in italië en japan en fietste ze in Cyprus op een mountainbike een meerdaagse wedstrijd. Wat zijn haar plannen voor dit jaar? "Nogmaals de Amstel Gold Race is natuurlijk mooi. maar ik heb meer ploeggenoten die graag deze mooie wedstrijd willen winnen. Als het maar iemand van onze meiden wordt, vind ik dat prachtig. Verder heb ik zelf niet specifieke wedstrijden waar ik mijn zinnen op gezet heb. Natuurlijk is deze april-periode belangrijk, er zijn bin-nen enkele dagen drie grote koersen. En natuurlijk wil ik er straks staan op het wereldkampioenschap maar dan is het al september en zijn we aan het einde van het wielerseizoen beland."

Nu een jaar later kijkt ze nog steeds met warme gevoelens terug op haar zege in de Amstel Gold Race. "Eindelijk was er deze wedstrijd voor de vrouwen. Jaren hebben we toch wel een beetje jalo-ers naar de mannen gekeken die deze race wel konden rijden. Maar het is nu toch wel duidelijk, de Amstel Gold Race voor vrouwen is een blijvertje!"

Van der breggen vindt het bijna vanzelfsprekend dat de Amstel Gold Race er ook voor vrouwen is: "We hebben zo veel goede, sterke rensters. Daarbij zijn er hier prachtige heuvels en natuurlijk de Cauberg. Een dergelijke wed-strijd mag er op Nederlands grondgebied gewoonweg niet ontbreken."

op de Nederlandse wielerberg werd Anna door het publiek vooruit geschreeuwd. "iedereen riep mijn naam. ondanks dat het afzien was op de Cauberg genoot ik er van het begin tot het einde. mijn ploegleider overigens ook. hij was op deze berg al in mijn oortje aan het feestvieren. maar ik dacht: ik moet de Cauberg wel nog eerst op, want het is en blijft een hele opgave. op dat moment wist ik overigens ook niet precies hoeveel mijn voorsprong bedroeg. maar al die aanmoedigingen van het publiek: heerlijk!"

REGUlAtIONS lADIES

Article 1: ORGANIZATION the 2nd Worldtour Amstel Gold Race ladies Edition is organized by the Amstel Gold Race foundation under the rules of the international Cycling

Union UCi and KNWU. the race will be held on sunday 15 April 2018.

Article 2: RACE CATEGORy the race will be held in the category Women Elite. the race belongs to the UCi Women Elite 1.UWt cycling calendar. According to the regulations of

the UCi the point table below, the points will be calculated in the UCi Women’s Worldtour Ranking.

Article 3: PARTICIPATION According to article 2.1.005 of the UCi-regulation are UCi Women’s teams and National teams in the possession of a wildcard label are able to start.

According to article 2.2.003 of the UCi-regulation teams can start with a maximum of 6 riders and a minimum of 4 riders in the race.

Article 4: PERMANENCE (RACE HEADqUARTERS) the race headquarters is open on saturday 14 April 2018 from 14:00-18:00h and on sunday 15 April 2018 from 07:30-10:30h at the City hall, markt 78,

6211 Cl in maastricht. the accreditations of the teams can be picked up by the teammanagers on saturday 15 April between 15:00-16:25h. the teammanagers-meeting, organized according to article 1.2.087 of the UCi-regulation, will take place on saturday 14 April 2018 at 17:00h in the presence of the commissaires at the race headquarters.

Article 5: RADIO TOUR the information about the race can be heard on Radio tour, with frequency 155.9375 mhz.

Article 6: NEUTRAL SUPPORT the neutral support will be provided by shimano. the neutral support will exist of 3 neutral cars and 1 motor.

Article 7: TIME LIMITATION Every rider who has exceeded the time limit of more than 8% of the time of the winner of the race will not be included in the result of the race.

Except in case the delay is caused by special conditions that are approved by the commissaire in consultation with the organisation.

Article 8: PRIZE MONEy the prize money is set by the UCi on 1 january 2018. the total amount of the prize money of the Amstel Gold Race ladies Edition totals up to € 5.130,-

Article 9: MEDICAL CONTROL the medical control is situated at sports hall De bosdries, Valkenburgerstraat 115, 6325 bm berg en terblijt.

Article 10: HONOURING CEREMONy a. According to article 1.2.112 of the UCi regulation the following riders have to report themselves for the awards ceremony:

•�Number�1,�2,�3�of�the�race; •�The�leader�of�the�UCI�Women’s�WorldTour�classification,�when�present�and�after�the�calculation�of�the�points�of�the�ridden�race; •�The�most�combative�rider�who�receives�the�prize�powered�by�Lazer.

b. the riders need to report themselves within 5 minutes after the finish to the honouring podium.

Article 11: DISCIPLINE AND PROCEDURES the UCi penalty scale will be applicable during the event.


REGlEmENt DAmES

Artikel 1: ORGANISATIE De 2e Worldtour Amstel Gold Race ladies Edition wordt georganiseerd door de stichting Amstel Gold Race volgens het reglement van de internationale

Wielerunie UCi en KNWU. De wedstrijd zal op zondag 15 april 2018 verreden worden.

Artikel 2: WEDSTRIJDCATEGORIE De wedstrijd zal verreden worden binnen de categorie Elite Vrouwen. De wedstrijd behoort tot de UCi Women Elite 1.UWt wielerkalender.

Volgens het reglement van de UCi geldt onderstaande puntentabel, deze punten worden verrekend in het UCi Women’s Worldtour klassement.

Artikel 3: DEELNAME Volgens artikel 2.1.005 van het UCi-reglement zijn UCi Women’s teams en Nationale teams in het bezit van een wildcard label startgerechtigd.

Volgens artikel 2.2.003 van het UCi-reglement mogen per ploeg maximaal 6 en minimaal 4 wielrensters deelnemen aan de wedstrijd.

Artikel 4: PERMANENCE De permanence is op zaterdag 14 april 2018 geopend van 14:00 tot 18:00 uur en op zondag 15 april 2018 van 07:30 tot 10:30 uur in het stadhuis,

markt 78, 6211 Cl te maastricht. De accreditaties van de ploegen kunnen door de ploegleider worden opgehaald op zaterdag 14 april tussen 15:00 en 16:25 uur. De ploegleidersvergadering, georganiseerd overeenkomstig artikel 1.2.087 van het reglement van de UCi, zal bij aanwezigheid van de wedstrijdcommissarissen plaatsvinden op zaterdag 14 april 2018 om 17:00 in de permanence.

Artikel 5: RADIO TOUR De informatie over de wedstrijd zal te beluisteren zijn via Radio tour op 155.9375 mhz.

Artikel 9: ANTIDOPING De medische controle is gesitueerd bij sporthal De bosdries, Valkenburgerstraat 115, 6325 bm berg en terblijt.

Artikel 10: HULDIGING a. Volgens artikel 1.2.112 van het reglement van de UCi dienen de volgende rensters zich te melden bij de huldiging:

•�De�nummer�1,�2,�3�van�de�wedstrijduitslag; •�De�leidster�van�het�UCI�Women’s�WorldTour�klassement,�indien�aanwezig�en�na�toekenning�van�de�punten�van�de�verreden�wedstrijd; •�De�strijdlustigste�renster,�die�de�prijs�gesponsord�door�Lazer�ontvangt.

b. De wielrensters dienen zich maximaal 5 minuten na aankomst te melden bij het huldigingspodium.

Weet u nog? In volle finale probeerden verschillende dames weg te komen in een zeer aantrekkelijke koers. Maar het was uiteindelijk Anna van der Breggen die wegreed op de Bemelerberg en solo naar de finish trapte. Van der Breggen kon niet meer bijgehaald worden. Lizzie Deignan, ploegmakker van Van der Breggen, werd tweede. Zij hield Annemiek van Vleuten en Katarzyna Niewiadoma achter zich in de sprint, waarmee beide dames een unieke gedeelde derde plek veroverden.

ik voorspel ook voor deze editie weer een aantrekkelijke wedstrijd. En ik ben nog steeds helemaal in mijn element over het feit dat de Nederlandse klassieker nu ook voor dames terug op de agenda staat. Vooral omdat de Nederlandse vrouwen in het hedendaagse vrouwenwielrennen overal de toon aangeven. of het nu op een WK of op de olympische spelen is, Nederlandse vrouwen rijden altijd van voren. Weer een Nederlandse overwinning behoort dan ook serieus tot de mogelijkheden. maar ik hoop als koersdirecteur van de Amstel Gold Race vooral op een mooie koers. Dan ben ik pas écht tevreden.

Een prettige en spannende koers toegewenst.

Do you still remember it? During the whole finale, several different ladies tried to attack in a very engaging race. But it was ultimately Anna van der Breggen who broke away in the Bemelerberg and attempted a solo to the finish line. Van der Breggen was not caught up anymore. Lizzie Deignan, Van der Breggen’s teammate finished second. She won the sprint with Annemiek van Vleuten and Katarzyna Niewiadoma behind her. These other ladies won a unique shared third place.

i also predict another engaging race for this edition. And i am still totally in my element because the Dutch classic for ladies has returned to the agenda. Especially because these days, the Dutch cycling ladies are among the best of the peloton. Whether it is in a World Championship or in the olympics, the Dutch ladies always ride in the front. Another Dutch victory is therefore a serious possibility. but as the race director, i especially hope that the Amstel Gold Race will be a beautiful race. then i will be completely satisfied.
