A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday at St. An-thony’s Church, Farnham, NY for Charles P.Hall of Angola who entered into rest on May 14, 2012 . He was the beloved husband of the late Irene (nee Ed-wards) Hall; devoted father of Michael, Mary Grace (Steven) Bauer, Catherine Jane (John) Ort, Elizabeth Ann (James) Meier, Berna-dette Marczak, Marguerite (Robert) Burton, Chris-topher (Susan), Timothy (Kathleen), Patrick (Carol), Matthew (Patricia), Jacque-line (Tracy) Krug, Stephanie and the late Daniel Hall; cherished grandfather of 32 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; loving son of the late Charles W. and Helena J. (nee McGrath) Hall; dear brother of the late Elizabeth (late James) Gala; also survived by four neph-ews and four nieces. Charles was a devoted family man, and was mar-ried for 65 years. In 1943 he enlisted in the Army, becoming a paratrooper and was honorably discharged after being injured during a jump. He attended college on the GI Bill, graduat-ing from the University of Rochester as a Mechanical Engineer, and held a license as a professional engineer. After a few years of working for Mobil Oil, he started his own business for about 40 years. He enjoyed nature and traveling. Arrangements by Lom-bardo Funeral Home. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 26 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Christ, Main St, Angola, NY for Garland “Guy” Scales who died at the age of 90 on May 7, 2012. Guy is survived by his wife of 66 years, Peggy J. (Smith) Scales; children, Brenda Carver, Dennis Scales and Wendy Scales; grandchildren, Keri (Jeff) Haring, Jason Giacchi, Krista (Scott) Harrison, Kelly (Joe) Tomlinson, Rachel and Jordan Scales and great grandchildren; Shana Giacchi, Adrianna Scales, Chaise and Nick Haring, Delaney and Ty Harrison and Paige and Aubrie Tomlinson. Guy was a veteran of the Royal Canadian Army Service Corp during World War II. Upon returning from Europe, he moved to Derby, where he and Peggy married and raised their family. Guy worked and retired from the Republic Steel Plant. After retire-ment, he and Peggy moved to Florida, where they lived for 20 years, returning to Hamburg 5 years ago. Before passing, Guy spent 5 days at a fam-ily reunion in Tennessee witkh every member of this family, where they spent time sharing laughter and love and making amazing memories that everyone will forever treasure.

VANCE C. OLSON Funeral services were held on Thursday were held at The Addison Fu-neral Home, Angola, NY for Vance C. Olson of Angola who passed away May 14, 2012. He was 68. He was the beloved husband of Joann (Bell) Olson; loving father of Jodi (Gary) Pudlewski, Lisa and Penny Olson.; brother of Marilyn (Jerry) Bell, Ronald (Elly) Olson, Sharon (Tom) Borowski, and the late David Olson; grandfather of Cody, Bran-don Pudlewski and Skylar Olson Rutter; son-in-law of Laura and John Bell. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Vance was a life long resident of Angola/Derby, NY. In May of 1967 he opened Olson Bros. Marine, in Derby, NY, with his 2 brothers, Ron and David. Today Olson Bros. is oper-ated is operated by his son-in-law, Gary Pudlewski, and daughter Lisa Olson. Vance was a member of the Marine Trades Assoc. of WNY and the Angola Moose Lodge 1614. With the long- but relatively mild - winter in Western New York behind us, we all look forward to the warm weather and all of the reasons why life in our little corner of the world is so great . . . especially in the summer time. On Monday, May 28th, 2012, Evans Township Post 5798 Veterans of Foreign Wars and Newcomb-Long Post 928 of the American Legion will hold their annual MEMORIAL DAY PARADE and SERVICE in the Village of Angola. Line up for the parade will be at the Angola Fire Hall grounds at 41 Commercial Street at 9:30 AM. The parade will start at 10 AM We will march/parade to the Forest Avenue Cemetery for the services, then back to the Village. We invite Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Firefighters, all organizations and all Veterans from all wars to join us for this important parade and service. Be at the Fire Hall grounds at 41 Commercial Street at 9:30 AM and you will be put in line for the Parade. We would like to have all the Gold Star Mothers attend this service. We also encourage decorated bikes, etc.

BUCKI CHOSEN FINALIST IN MISS NY PAGEANT McKenzie Bucki of An-gola, age 16 has been chosen as a State Finalist in the National American Miss New York Pageant to be held on August 25-27 at the beautiful Hyatt Regency Rochester in Rochester, NY. The National American Miss pageants are held for girls 4-18, and have five different age divisions. McKenzie will be partici-pating in the Junior Teen age division, along with other outstanding young ladies from across the great state of New York. The winner of the Pageant will receive a $1,000 cash award, the official crown and banner, a bouquet of roses, and air transportation to compete in the National Pageant in California where she will receive an excit-ing complimentary Tour of Hollywood and two V.I.P. tickets to Disneyland. The National American Miss Pageants are dedicated to celebrating American’s future leaders and equiping them with life-long skills. Each year the pageant na-tionally awards 1.5 million dollars in cash, scholarships and other prizes, which in-cludes a New Ford Mustang Convertible! McKenzie’s activities include cheerleadig, dance, and band. She also enjoys reading and hanging out with friends. Her sponsors include many places from the town of Evans. Town chair Robert “Bob-cat” Catalino distributed invitations to Southtowns Democratic picnic on June 10th at Sturgeon Point from 10 am to 4 pm. Regional and statewide elected officials will be invited. Democratic club member Tom Marks is assisting with the organiza-tion of the event. Important dates: The committee members will start circulating petitions the week of June 5. The Evans Democratic Club picnic will be on Sun., August 6. The primary date is still not set; it may be on September 13. The general election will be onTues., November 6. Catalino described the new state Assembly, Senate, and congressional districts, and the demographics of each of them. Club president Michelle Parker announced that the next meeting will be held on Tues., June 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the V.F.W.

EVANS DEMOCLUB NEWS Evans Democratic Club May 15, 2012. The pledge to the flag was led by State Senate candidate Mike Amodeo at the May meeting of the Ev-ans Democratic Club. Mike previously ran for the state Assembly seat in the 146th district. He is a lawyer prac-ticing at Damon Morey who resides in Hamburg with his wife and 3 year old child; there is also one on the way in about a month. “Life is about more than collecting a paycheck. It’s also about public service,” he noted. He compared his record to the other candidates, noting that he is a lifelong Demo-crat who has never changed parties. Family Court judge can-didate Paul Crapsi addressed the Club. Crapsi is challeng-ing an incumbent. He is currently an Administrative Law Judge in the Depart-ment of Motor Vehicles on DWI hearings. He previous-ly managed a not-for-profit law firm and was a family law attorney at Legal Aid. He is married with three daughters and a son. Town board member Paul Cooper reported on the Town’s efforts to move to alternate energy sources for the Town facilities. There might be as much as $5,000 to $7,000 a year in savings. The state agency NYSER-DA will do a free energy audit for the Town. Cooper noted that the electronics recycling proj-ect has collected 3 tons of materials since February 1st. They take computers/accessories, keyboards, mice, monitors, terminals, printers, fax machines, and other electronics. The com-plete list is on the Town’s website. The program does not accept liquids/powders, air conditioners, dehumidi-fiers, refrigerators, kitchen/personal appliances, batter-ies nor fluorescent lamps.
