Changing Presentation Color

• In this chapter, you will apply a PowerPoint template to a presentation, view various masters, change the display of the master objects, modify and format the master text, and save a presentation as a template.

• A PowerPoint Slide Master contains objects that you want to appear on each slide in your presentation. With a Slide Master, you only have to create an item once and PowerPoint will automatically include them on every slide. Some things are set up by PowerPoint (for example; place for slide title and text) so you don't have to create them each time.

• PowerPoint also offers templates. A template is a presentation containing PowerPoint masters and a color scheme. PowerPoint offers pre-designed templates to help you get started quickly.

• Applying a template to a presentation you are creating means the design work is already done for you.

• You can apply a template when you are just starting a

presentation, or you can create a presentation and apply the template later.

Make a presentation look consistent

• PowerPoint templates use masters—design patterns for slides, handouts, and speaker notes. When you create a slide, for example, it assumes the design of its corresponding master. You can then customize the slide’s text, graphics, and other elements.

• View Master …• When you apply a template to a presentation,

PowerPoint copies the information from the masters in the template to the corresponding masters in the presentation.

• The text style and format, colors and background objects change to match those of the template, but the content remains the same.

Make a presentation look consistent

• You can use one of the many templates that come with PowerPoint, or you can create your own from existing presentations.

• Format slide design• Slide Design Components: Apply a design

template, recently used, Available for use and Browse.

• You can apply different templates throughout the development process until you find the look that you like best

View and Changing a Presentation’s Masters

• By default, PowerPoint presentations have four masters:– The Slide Master controls the look of the slides in the

presentation. All the Slide Master’s characteristics (background color, text color, font, and font size) appear on all slides. When you make a change to these characteristics of the Slide Master, all the slides reflect the change. For example, if you want to include your company logo or the date on every slide, you can place it on the Slide Master.

– The Title Master controls the look of title slides. In other words, changing the Title Master affects only slides to which you have applied a title slide layout.

– The Handout Master controls the look of student handouts.– The Notes Pages Master controls the look of speaker notes.
