    Chanakya's Education

    y Chnakya (Sanskrit): (c. 350-283 BCE)

    y Taxila was one of the worlds centre for education.

    y The teachers were highly knowledgeable who used to teach sons

    of kings.

    y Law, Medicine, Warfare and other indigenous forms of learning.

    The four Vedas, hunting, elephant-lore and 18 arts were taught at

    the university.

    Life as a student

    y He was a student of politics right from child hood.

    y In this way after studying religion and politics, he turned hisattention to economics.

    y "Neetishastra", a treatise on the ideal way of life shows his in

    depth study of the Indian way of life.

    y He was called variously by different people, namely Vishnugupta,

    Kautilya.

    y 455 Niti sutras, about 216 refer to raaja-neeti sutras.

    y Two books are attributed to Chanakya: Arthashastra and

    Neetishastra which is also known as Chanakya Niti.

    y Arthashastra discusses monetary and fiscal policies,

    welfare, international relations, and war strategies in detail.
