Dear Faith Family of OLG,
Jesus meek and humble of heart, make our hearts like unto yours!
As I wrote last Sunday June is the month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. We con nue our reflec ons on this burning heart of Divine Love that is loved so li le in return. A fearless heart, which constantly faced threats and violence. Fearless even as he went to his death. Not many of us will be called to make this ul mate sacrifice. Yet, we manifest this fearlessness when we care for those on the margins of society and as we seek to overcome our own prejudices and biases. In this way we die to our cowardice and allow the spirit of Jesus to rise up within us. Let us face the world in a fearless manner.
I want to express my sincere gra tude to the staff, volunteers, Pico Party Rental, and all who have supported our drive in Masses the last two weekends. It was truly a blessing to celebrate the Eucharist with you all. I en-joyed the honking and seeing people moved to tears as they came to receive Holy Communion. Our God can-not be out done in generosity and will con nue to fill our hearts and deepen our love for Him in the Eucharist. This can be a me of renewal for us as a parish community or it can be a me where we become focused on our own agendas and forget God. Our mission is to go and touch the hearts that don’t know about our loving God whom has a burning heart for them.
This Sunday we celebrate Father’s Day. We thank God for dads and those who play a fatherly role in people’s lives. However, in modern mes, the “spiritually absent” father has become increasingly commonplace, and the impact on church life is apparent. This Sunday let us encourage all fathers to persevere in being good Chris an role models. The bible says “Fathers, do not exasperate your children, instead, bring them up in the training and instruc on of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4). A wise father seeks to make obedience desirable and a ainable by his love and gentleness. We know from history that the father would be diligent in instruc ng children in the ways of the Lord. Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not turn from it.” To “train” in a way that makes clear to children the life they are intended for, a life of great importance!
Let us pray for all fathers living and deceased. The following is composed by Pope John XXIII: St. Joseph, guardian of Jesus and chaste husband of Mary, you passed your life in loving fulfillment of duty. You supported the holy family of Nazareth with the work of your hands. Kindly protect those who trus ngly come to you. You know their aspira ons, their hardships, their hopes. They look to you because they know you will un-derstand and protect them. You too knew trial, labor, and weariness. But amid the worries of material life your soul was full of deep peace and sang out in true joy through in macy with God's Son entrusted to you and with Mary, his tender Mother. Assure those you protect that they do not labor alone. Teach them to find Jesus near them and to watch over him faithfully as you have done. Amen. Have a great week!

Querida Familia de Fe, ¡Jesús manso y humilde de corazón, haz que nuestros corazones sean como los tuyos! Como escribí el domingo pasado, junio es el mes del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús. Con nuamos nuestras reflexiones sobre este ar-diente corazón del Amor Divino que es tan amado a cambio al observar la valen a de Jesús, que mo vó su ministerio terrenal y le permi ó enfrentar amenazas y violencia. La valen a lo acompañó incluso cuando fue a su muerte. No muchos de nosotros seremos llamados a hacer el úl mo sacrificio requerido para ser discípulos de Jesús. En cambio, nuestra propia ac tud de valen a puede manifestarse en el cuidado de los necesitados y de aquellos que están al margen de nuestra sociedad. Cuando superamos nuestros propios prejuicios y puntos de vista, estamos muriendo y permi endo que el espíritu de Jesús se levante dentro de nosotros. En-frentemos al mundo de una manera intrépida, sabiendo que valemos mucho a la vista de Dios. Quiero expresar mi sincero agradecimiento al Personal, los Voluntarios, Pico Party Rental y a todos los que nos han apoyado nues-tras “Drive in” misas los úl mos dos fines de semana. Fue una verdadera bendición celebrar la Eucaris a de una manera maravil-losa para escuchar todos los bocinazos y muchas lágrimas cuando la gente vino a recibir la Sagrada Comunión. Nuestro Dios no puede ser superado en su generosidad y con nuará llenando nuestros corazones con un mayor deseo de estar cerca de él, profun-dizar nuestro amor por Él en la Eucaris a e iluminarnos a dónde debemos ir para tomar su presencia en el mundo. Esta vez también es una renovación para nosotros como comunidad parroquial para ver cómo estamos viviendo nuestra declaración de misión. ¿Somos personas que tenemos un corazón para la misión o estamos tan enfocados en nuestras agendas que olvidamos al Dios a quien servimos? Una parte de nuestra intrepidez es ir y tocar corazones que de otra manera no vendrían aquí ni siquiera conocerían a nuestro Dios amoroso que ene un corazón ardiente por ellos. Este domingo celebramos el Día del Padre, agradecemos a Dios por los papás y aquellos que juegan un papel paternal en la vida de las personas. Las estadís cas y los estudios han demostrado que el papel de los papás en la vida de fe es más moderado que el papel que juegan las madres en la religiosidad de los niños. El padre "espiritualmente ausente" es cada vez más común, y el impac-to en la vida de la iglesia es evidente. El impacto en la vida de fe en el hogar y la transmisión de la fe es aún más preocupante. Este domingo alentemos a todos esos papás a con nuar perseverando en ser buenos modelos e instrumentos cris anos. Efesios 6: 4 es un resumen de instrucciones para los padres. "Padres, no exasperen a sus hijos, en lugar de eso, críenlos en el entrenamiento y la instrucción del Señor" (Efesios 6: 4). Un padre sabio busca hacer que la obediencia sea deseable y alcanzable con amor y gen leza. Sabemos por la historia que el padre debía ser diligente en instruir a los niños en las formas y palabras del Señor para su propio desarrollo espiritual y bienestar. El padre que obedeció los mandamientos de las Escrituras hizo exactamente eso. Proverbios 22: 6 dice: "Entrene a un niño en el camino que debe seguir, y cuando sea viejo no se apartará de él". "Entrenar" se refiere a la primera enseñanza que un padre y una madre le dan a un niño. Este entrenamiento se crea de manera de dejar en claro a los niños la vida a la que están des nados, ¡una vida de gran importancia! Oremos esta oración compuesta por el Santo Papa Juan XXIII para todos los padres vivos y fallecidos: “San José, guardián de Jesús y casto esposo de María, pasaste tu vida en el cumplimiento amoroso del deber. Apoyaste a la sagrada familia de Nazaret con el trabajo de tus manos. Protege amablemente a los que con an en . Tu conoces sus aspiraciones, sus difi-cultades, sus esperanzas. Te miran porque saben que los entenderás y los protegerás. Tú también conocías la prueba, el trabajo y el cansancio. Pero en medio de las preocupaciones de la vida material, su alma estaba llena de profunda paz y cantaba con verdadera alegría a través de la in midad con el Hijo de Dios que le fue confiado y con María, su erna Madre. Asegure a los que protege que no trabajan solos. Enséñeles a encontrar a Jesús cerca de ellos y velar por él fielmente como lo ha hecho. Amén.” ¡Que tengan una buena semana!

LIONS EMERGENCY COMMUNITY FUND There are many in our community who have been severely impacted with reduced hours at work or even lay-offs as a result of the COVID-19 virus and the nationwide response. Our
development office is spearheading a special campaign called Lions Emergency Community FUND to help OLG families whose lives have been turned upside down literally overnight.
This campaign will seek to provide immediate and temporary tuition relief and funds for basic needs like groceries and rent. So many in our community are blessed, and I would ask those who can to please give generously to this fund.
