No emotion = no attention. There is no better way to get emotional reaction than the strong image. Think of things like fear, anger and joy as well.

So if you want your audience to actually remember what you communicate (and I guess you do), use images that strengthen your message.

There is no other way (as simple as that) to totally enchant your audience than to use great images in great resolution (more than 1024 px). Trust me that with great picture all you need to do is sometimes add great headline and the slide is ready. (As long as the headline is not in Comic Sans – then you can spoil even the best picture).
