Hello Everyone,

It’s often a thankless task measuring out Motorkhana flag positions, putting little bits of coloured cloth onto poles, erecting barriers to keep us all safe, as well as erecting speed, direction, and policy signs, and so on.

Fortunately we have a team of dedicated people volunteering their time and effort into making the Westlakes Automobile Club the success it currently is. I’m sure you will all join with me in thanking them for their extraordinary efforts in making our sport great fun.

I am proud to be part of that team and really appreciate the recognition I received at the Club’s Presentation Day for my contribution to the Club’s activities – Thankyou.

I have noticed some Clubs have introduced incentive schemes to get more people to help. One Sydney Club has a policy that to be declared the winner of a Club Championship you must, as well as driving very well, act as an Event Official at least once, and, you must have submitted an article for their Club magazine!

Elizabeth and I had a great time competing in four Khanacrosses. Her times are getting closer to mine as her confidence grows. She is off to England at the end of the year for a working holiday – good chance for me to get more practice in to stay ahead of her. Speaking of confidence, it’s great to see our youngest kids driving so incredibly well.

I would like to thank publicly those WAC Magazine reporters who wrote stories for me over the last five months. Evan Van Leeuwen, Col Pogson, Evan Vale, Bill Pearson, Ben Semple, and Donna Brown.

Whenever I asked these people for something I gave them a minimum word limit to ensure I get enough material for at least a half page story. Every one of them said “I’ll try, but....”. My request was exceeded by miles every time – great stories !!

Thanks to Wayne Griffiths, Neil Phillips & Bill Pearson when I needed an extra photo or two. Bill got me out of a hole a couple of times.

The next few months until February 4th will be long – no opportunity to drive on the dirt, take action photographs or meeting with like minded individuals who enjoy getting Dirty with me!

Please drive safely over the break and have a very Merry Christmas. May the New Year see all your dreams come true.

Courtney, Jonathon, Jack, and Connor drove brilliantly at the last Motorkhana. They all had to be prised out of their car to go home at the end of the day.

Next time you are on the internet have a look at -www.motorkhana.com.au

This is the NSW website that tracks the State Round results for both Motorkhana and Khanacross action. WAC held two Motorkhana State rounds in 2011 and three Khanacross State rounds. Below are some provisional Championship results to date for drivers who entered the contest as a WAC member.

Motorkhana place getters –Class A - Wayne Griffiths 1st. Class H - Brock Malone 1st. Category J - Tegan Meek 3rd. Category LP - Tegan Meek 2nd and Melissa Parsons 3rd.

Khanacross place getters –Outright - Evan Leeuwen 1st, Keith Toward 3rd.

Class A - Terry Campbell 1st, Alex Phillips 2nd, Daniel Smailes 3rd. Class B - Jeffery Williamson 2nd, Robert Monk 3rd. Class C - Steve O’Brien 2nd. Class D - Col Pogson 3rd. Class E – Evan Van Leeuwen 1st, Keith Toward 2nd and David Longworth 3rd. Class F – Jamie Allen 2nd, Richard Marchant 3rd. Class J - Tegan Meek 3rd. Class L - Tegan Meek 2nd and Elizabeth Antaw 3rd.

No guarantees the Khanacross results are 100% in all cases, as not all points allocated and some obvious errors in a number of the Class scores. But, all in all our WAC members were up there with the best of them.

Thank you to all my contributors. The people who took photos, who were the subject of photos, wrote articles, made suggestions and generally contributed however small to the success of the magazine. Look after your families and I hope you will be at the next WAC event.

Hello everyone, what a year it has been! A couple of dusty events early in the year. Then we were rained out at various times of the season. We had very good entries for the Khancross's, twilight and day meetings, ranging from low 50's to mid 70's at times, which was noted in the CAMS Motorkhana / Khanacross reports as ‘outstanding’. It was also duly noted that we must be putting on quality events to gain these numbers. Not a bad rap for your Club, when other Clubs are struggling to get 30 on a good day!

We are still in the process of bettering the tracks, and surrounds when the weather is kind to us. We hope to make some subtle changes to help with water damage, hence less maintenance and to also capture water for dust control. I might even throw in a different track configuration or two for Khanacross 2012. Just when you think you know the tracks! Keep an eye out.

Rallysprints were cancelled a couple of times due to wet weather, but later in the year we were granted a Level 1 licence and ran our first event for that criteria along with the seasoned (Stage 2) competitors. And, Yep, it rained at that one as well. But we didn't stop, thanks to our dedicated group of officials who saw out the event in driving rain.

As always, we struggle to get enough officials for the events through out the year, but we manage somehow.

The number of juniors coming through from the Motorkhana to Khanacross events has been consistent. It is great to see these young boys and girls learning car control skills at a very early age. They put some of us Oldies to shame at times.

The Ladies category should be healthy for the 2012 season as there has been a few new names popping up at some of the events lately. Come on ladies, I’m looking forward to some close competition, we need more of you to put some of us men in their place.

A deserved congratulations to Evan Van Leeuwen for taking out the NSW Khanacross Championship. Well done Evan. He travels from the northern beaches of Sydney to compete at ‘the Premier track’ (his words).

Another Evan (Vale), Caroline, and his family travel from the Canberra area just to compete at our venue in their very quick FWD Corolla. They keep coming back, and always have a nice review for us! Well done.

As always from the WAC Committee we wish everybody a safe and happy festive season, and look forward to catching up with you in " 2012"

Thankyou for your support during the year, hopefully with your help, we can keep up the high standards of our Club for everyone to enjoy!
