5-DAY AUTUMN PROGRAMME

Nestled in the Serramonacesca foothills of the Majella National Park, Kokopelli gives you

the perfect spot and opportunity for exploring the changing colours and the wilderness of

the Mother Mountain as it moves slowly from summer to winter.

Daytimes will be spent in the mountains and foothills of the Majella, following the ancient

trails and spiritual paths of the monks, hermits and brigands. Included in the programme

will be a hike to the glorious IX Century Abbey of San Liberatore, together with its tombs

and the tumbling waters of the Alento river, a hike taking in the fascinating hermitage ofSan Onofrio and an excursion up to the higher peaks of the Majella, snow and weather

permitting.

There will be an opportunity to shop in the local villages and markets, and evenings will

be spent with the locals in the bars and restaurants in and around Serramonacesca.

Detailed Itinerary(subject to change

Day 1: Transfer from Chieti or Pescara,

Self-guided hike to the Alento river via

the Torre Polegra and the Abbey &

tombs of San Liberatore.

Day 2: morning in local shops/markets

& market, self-guided hike to the eremo

of San Onofrio & the piano dei Ginepro.

Day 3: Accompanied hike to Monte

Focalone (2600m asl) via the Tavolo dei

Brigante.

Day 4: Morning visit to medieval town

of Guardiagrele. Self-guided afternoon

hike across the Montepiano ridge

Day 5: Holiday ends after breakfast.

Return transfer to Chieti or Pescara

WHO WE ARE: Four years ago we opted out of corporate life, sold up and took ourselves off across Europe

in our old VW Campervan to seek out a place where our passion for the great outdoors could be satisfied

amongst warm people and old traditions. We found it in South-Central Italy, in Serramonacesca, a tiny little

corner of rural Abruzzo that falls within the protective arms of the Majella National Park. It is here that Kokopelliwas born for you to come and explore the changing seasons with us.

HOW TO ARRIVE: The nearest airport of Pescara is only a short 35 minute drive, with transfer to and from included in the price.

Pescara is fed internationally from London Stansted, Brussels Charleroi, Dusseldorf Weeze, Frankfurt Hahn, Girona Barcelona, Oslo

Torp, Paris Beauvais. Rome (either Ciampino or Fiumicino airports) has a greater selection of times and flights. There are frequent

coaches from Rome to Chieti which only take 2.5 hours and are only around 15. Chieti is a short 25 minute drive and transfer to and

from is included in the price.
