A Crestron control system was installed due to its fully flexible programming capability. This enabled us to provide the customer with the ability to control their lighting, heating and entertainment from an easy to use iPad interface. As iPads are often moved around with people, Crestron handheld remotes were added to several rooms. We also installed a secure wired network with wi-fi coverage throughout the entire house. To help with maintenance and future updates remote access to the system was added.

The customer had the option of watching Sky in high definition on any of the four televisions. This was possible using a Wyrestorm HDBaseT HDMI matrix. Movies were available from a local Blu-ray player in the lounge or downloaded via Apple TV. The lounge had also been installed with 5.1 surround sound to give a full movie effect. In the master ensuite we installed a waterproof television at the end of the bath allowing the customer relaxation after a long hard day. Music was available in five rooms throughout the house from Bowers and Wilkins in-ceiling speakers. The customer could listen to a Crestron controllable iPod dock or music from their iPhone, iPad or laptop through wi-fi straight to the Apple TV.

Full control of the Mode Evolution lighting was done using pre programmed scenes, via twelve button Crestron light switches. The most used scenes in each room could also be recalled from hand held remotes or iPad. Convenient scenes were programmed allowing a series of lights leading to the master bedroom or kitchen to be triggered from any of the entrances. On leaving the house the customer could operate a light switch that enabled the internal lights to switch off, switch on the driveway lights and even open the garage door. Gate and external lights automatically came on at sunset and off at sunrise. These times were adjusted automatically throughout the year.

Fourteen zones of heating were controlled from an iPad, enabling the customer to set different temperatures within each room. The iPad clearly displayed the current temperature of each room with the option to adjust the setpoint. A holiday mode was programmed to enable the customer to drop the temperature across the house for when they were away for long periods. With remote access to the system the customer could raise the temperature before they arrived home.

The house had several rooms with electric curtains. These were controllable from light switches and been included within lighting scenes to create the right mood. Within the master bedroom the customer wished for natural light but keeping an element of privacy. Electric frosted glass was installed to enable this. These windows were quickly and easily changed from opaque to clear with a press of a button.

Security CCTV security cameras were fitted covering all entrance points. The customer could view the CCTV cameras from any of the televisions or even remotely on their iPad while away from home. The burglar alarm also integrated into the system enabling lights to be switched on or audio to be played if an intruder was detected.
