Annette Parrey ENROL NOW FOR KINDERGARTEN 2020 Do you have a child starting school in 2020? Please register at the office and pick up your information pack. If you have friends or neighbours with children who will be in Kindergarten next year, please let them know. Kindergarten numbers impact on the whole school structure each year, so the earlier we know Kindergarten numbers the easier it is to plan teachers, classes and rooms needed in 2020. Our Headstart program will be held on the first 5 Fridays of Term 4 - 18 October, 25 October, 1 November, 8 November and 15 November with our Headstart Parent Information Morning on 18 October @ 9:30am.
NAIDOC Celebrations Last week, our school celebrated NAIDOC Week with all classes involved in cultural activities within their class and stage groups and then concluded with a special assembly on Friday. The theme “Voice, Treaty, Truth”: Let’s work together for a shared future, was very important as they were the three key statements of the Uluru Statement of the Heart. Students also donated a gold coin for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation to support literacy in rural and remote Indigenous
communities by providing access to books. The amount of $450.00 was raised. Our Senior Aboriginal students: Lily and Bray led the assembly with Ruben giving an inspirational personalised Acknowledgement to Country. One of the most important aspects of the day was a smoking ceremony performed by Uncle Sharky and Greg from our local Aboriginal community. This was a very spiritual ceremony and all students were respectful and listened to Uncle Sharky talk about why Aboriginal people perform smoking ceremonies. Thanks to Lindsay and her band of helpers for assisting with providing a sausage sizzle for all students. Thank you to parents and community members who came to support Aboriginal Education within our school. We really appreciate your continued support.
