On May 6, 2014, Otsego Public Schools is askingvoters to renew the current 18-mill Non-Homesteadmillage. This is NOT an increase, but a 10-yearRENEWAL of our current levy that voters passed tenyears ago. Here are some facts:

Q: Is this a new millage or a millageincrease?

A: No. This is a renewal. Taxpayers will bepaying the same millage rate for this millageas they have paid for the past ten years.

Q: What would be the impact to OtsegoPublic Schools if this millage is defeated?

A: Otsego Public Schools receives $1.8 mil-lion (of the $19 million budget) annually fromthis millage. These funds are used for Districtoperating expenses and cannot be replacedby other funding sources. Without these funds,budget cuts would be inevitable.

Q: Does this impact all taxpayers in thedistrict?

A: No. This tax is assessed against business-es and second homes, not homeowners oragricultural property. However, homeowners inthe Otsego school district vote on the renewal.

Q: Where do I vote?

A: You would vote at the same location as ageneral election.

They welcomed a daughter, Susie,in 1964 in Minnesota. In 1966, they movedto Otsego, MI, where they had a son,Russ, in 1968. John worked for the Cityof Otsego until his retirement in 1990.After retirement they moved to LakeCampbell where they lived for 24 years.John spent part of his summers workingfor Prunty Construction over the next 8years. He enjoyed beer, sports, fishing,camping at Muskrat Lake, bowling,playing softball, his grandchildren, andtraveling with his “wife.” John and Bonnierecently celebrated their 50th Anniversary.John is survived by his wife, Bonnie;daughter, Susie Van Eck, Volga; son, RussKrogmann, Lake Campbell; 5 grandchildren; four sisters: Marian Krogmann,Fruita, CO; Doris Evink, SD; MarieKrogmann, Otsego, MI; and DelorisKrogmann, Otsego, MI; 2 brothers: DavidKrogmann, Littleton, CO and VernonKrogmann, Ivanhoe, MN. John waspreceded in death by his parents, brotherLouie, and two sisters, Elsie and Lillie.Funeral services were held Friday, May 2,2014 at the Skroch Funeral Chapel inFlandreau, SD.
