MSOFTX3000 Subrack

The MSC SERVER UNIT subrack is designed in conformity with the

IEC297 standard and has the following features.

The subrack is 19 inches wide and 8U high.

The front boards and back boards are plugged into the backplane of the

subrack. All cables are led out of the subrack from the back.

The subrack accommodates 21 slots. The power boards (UPWR)

occupy four slots.

The subrack enables temperature

detection and fan speed adjustment functions.

Basic subrack

The basic subrack is configured in the fixed position in the

integrated configuration cabinet, providing clock interface, IP

interface and ATM interface and implementing service processing.

main control board of the MSC SERVER

UNIT subrack Configuring shared resource

WHSC

The Hot-Swap and Control unit (WHSC) is a back boardin the MSC SERVER UNIT subrack

WHSC is fixedly in back slots 7 and 9 of each subrack

Bridging left and right shared resource buses, for the

purpose of assuring that the WSMUs in slots 6 and 8 can

respectively manage the front boards (except the WALU andthe UPWR) of the subrack,

Controlling hot-swap of boards,

Providing two pairs of heartbeat detection interfaces for the

WSMU/WHSC

Providing a 10M/100M compatible Ethernet connection

between the active WSMU and the standby one

Providing six FE ports externally.

The WHSCs work in 1+1 backup mode.

WIFM The IP Forward Module (WIFM) is used to receive

and transmit IP packets, process Media Access

Control (MAC) layer messages and distribute IP

messages.

WBFI

The Back Insert FE Interface unit (WBFI) is the

back interface board of the WIFM. It is used to

perform FE driving, and provide external physical

interfaces for the WIFM. It is configured

correspondingly to the WIFM one by one.

The WBFIs work in 1+1 backup mode.

It provides UMG resource management, outgoing trunk

selection, and WVDB distribution agent management (MSRN

number allocation, WVDB maintenance command forwarding)

functions.

The WCDB contains global data which can be accessed by allWCCUs/WCSUs and WVDBs.

Because the WCDB is an accessed center, its load is relatively

large. In small-capacity configuration mode, its functions can be

implemented by one pair of WCDBs. However,

In a large-capacity configuration mode, different functions must

be distributed to different WCDBs.

WVDB

The VLR Database Board (WVDB) is a front board used to

store the subscription data of mobile subscribers.

In a large-capacity application, multiple pairs of WVDBs are

required to store the subscription data.

The subscription information of one subscriber is stored in the

same pair of WVDBs.

The principles for distributing subscriber data on different

WVDBs have been described in the Section about WCDB (also

named WVDB distribution agent function).

Such distribution is transparent for the WCCU/WCSU service

layer.
