    Understanding Dial Peers

A dial peer is an addressable call endpoint.

Dial peers establish logical connections, called calllegs, to complete an end-to-end call.

Cisco voice-enabled routers support two typesof dial peers:

POTS dial peers: Connect to a traditionaltelephony network

VoIP dial peers: Connect over a packet network

    What is a Dial Peer?

A dial peer is an addressable call endpoint.

Dial peers establish logical connections, called calllegs, to complete an end-to-end call.

Cisco voice-enabled routers support two types ofdial peers:

POTS dial peers: Connect to a traditional telephonynetwork

VoIP dial peers: Connect over a packet network
