Fr Riccardo

March 23rd – March 29th

Father Jack will be offering Mass each day (for the scheduled intentions). The goal is to televise them on FB Live. If you have not signed up for our St. Andrew Catholic Church group page, doing so will enable you to be a viewer. We will also be sending messages out via this media platform among others. The Blessed Sacrament Chapel and Church will remain open for prayer and adoration. Father Jack will celebrate the Sacrament of Penance (Confession) on almost any day or time by appointment. You may reach him at 799-5003 or 923-1026. He will instruct you as to how to keep social distancing while going to confession.

ALWAYS OPEN FOR PRAYER &

ADORATION

MARCH 17TH LETTER FROM

ARCHBISHOP PAUL COAKLEY

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I have issued the following directives to go into effect immediately until April 12th in all the parishes and institutions of the Archdiocese:

• All public Masses and liturgies, i.e. Stations of the Cross and Penance Rites, are cancelled through Easter Sunday;

• Catholic schools will be closed at least through April 5;

• The Sacrament of Reconciliation and Penance may continue (as long as social distancing is carefully observed);

• Confirmations are suspended;

• The Chrism Mass will be closed to the public;

• Social distancing should be practiced;

• Avoid, cancel or postpone non-essential events and meetings. I know this will be difficult for many of us, especially our priests for whom the Mass and the Eucharist are the very center of our lives. Due to the continued rapid spread of COVID-19, we must take these further steps to protect the community and our most at-risk parishioners, so everyone can remain safe during this health crisis.

During this perilous time, I and all our priests will continue to celebrate daily Mass and pray for your intentions, for the needs of the whole Church and for all those affected by the virus around the world. This season of Lent remains a time for prayer, fasting and works of mercy. COVID-19 casts a new light on how we are being invited to pray, fast and practice mercy. I urge you to dedicate yourselves to prayer with deep faith and perseverance. Pray for yourselves and pray for others. I recommend to you the beautiful prayer of the rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet as well as spending time praying with the Church’s daily readings for the Mass even though we cannot attend Mass in person. Make visits and spend time in prayer before the Lord who is present in the tabernacle.

Be assured, we will get through this together, relying on the riches of our Catholic faith and our trust in the Lord Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit. You and your loved ones are in my prayers. May God bless you and keep you safe. Blessed Stanley Rother, pray for us.”

+Paul Coakley Archbishop of Oklahoma City

Archbishop Coakley, pastors and chancery staff, together with health officials, will continue to monitor the situation and make

further provisions as needed.

SACRIFICIAL GIVING

What kind of giving is considered sacrificial? It’s the kind

that families do daily when it comes to taking good care of

each other. It often involves some pain or self-denial. It’s not

that different when it comes to our parish family. We take

good care of each other by contributing our fair share to

fund the missionary and operational expenses of the

church. We give not from what is left over, but from all that

we have. We give out of gratitude more than obligation.

Have you reviewed your sacrificial giving recently? Might it

be time to do so?

FEBRUARY FINANCIAL SUMMARY

REVENUE: Sacrificial Giving $ 61,491 Charity (Poor Box, Pac-A-Sac) 971 Building Fund 5,006 Other Income 6,579 TOTAL INCOME: $ 74,047 TOTAL EXPENSES: 64,132 NET REVENUE: $ 9,915

As Christ-followers, we need to remember that our God is a “refuge and strength, a very present help in

time of trouble” (Ps. 46:1). God has not given us a spirit of fear. We should not panic. Our Heavenly Father is

still the all-knowing, ever-present, omnipotent God.

PARISH NURSE

How can I continue to contribute to the support of the parish while Masses are canceled? Folks have been asking this question. Here are some ways you can do so during this time of social distancing.

You can go to our website or our parish app and look for the Online Giving icon. Once there you will be directed to set up an account. You can use the service as needed or you can set up a recurring amount to be deducted from your bank account or charged to a credit card.

Electronic funds transfer (EFT) are electronic transfer of money from one bank account to another. You can request a form from the parish office.

OR, JUST MAIL YOUR ENVELOPES TO THE PARISH OFFICE

YOUTH MINISTRY RENEWAL UNDERWAY

So far, more than a dozen individuals have made a commitment to be part of our new Youth & Young Adult Task Force. Fr. Jack, Tommie Tran, and our Coordinators, Mike Jaques and Lynn Yingling will have a meeting on Monday to prepare an agenda for our initial meeting. The process of re-imagining how we minister both with and for our younger members will take time. Your prayers for the success of this endeavor will be greatly appreciated.

ARCHDIOCESE CANCELS ALL CHRISTIAN FORMATION SESSIONS UNTIL AFTER EASTER

This policy was occasioned by the public health policies that forbid gathering in large groups of people (no more than 10). This means the focus on how to live a Christian life shifts to every individual home and family. There is a website called Formed (https://formed.org/) which can be accessed through our parish website which provides many opportunities for growth and devotion. it has links to televised Masses, the rosary, stations of the cross and many videos which can help us grow in faith.

OUR PARISH CODE IS BHKQCW

JOURNEY OF FAITH

One of the biggest impacts of the Archbishop’s unprecedented decision to cancel even the Solemn Celebrations of Holy Week and Easter is that the Sacramental Initiation of our Catechumens and Candidates will have to be postponed.

We are in the process of coming up with alternative ways to help them complete their preparation that will truly make them ready to become faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.

The sponsors will need to step up and offer more direct guidance and direction, but we will also be sending out links to good online materials.
