Buena Nueva Good News Reflection Confianza ciega en Jesús
Blind trust in Jesus
This Sunday's Gospel reading is short and to the point: Jesus, our Good Shepherd, is the only one we follow, the only one we can trust blindly.
Others who have authority in our lives might be good shepherds, but none of them are to be followed blindly, not even the best of them. We respect the positions of bishops, parish pastors, employers, teachers, parents, etc., but all make mistakes, all sin, all have incomplete understandings of the situations for which they're responsible. We must use the Holy Spirit's gift of discernment in each case so that we don't behave like dumb sheep inadvertently cooperating with decisions that grieve our Father God.
Only Jesus can be blindly trusted. Only Jesus is perfect and knows all, understands all, and never sins. Only Jesus can successfully make the right decisions all the time and lead us through the various situations of life without inadvertently cooperating with evil. Only Jesus can discern and implement a plan that's best for every person who's affected by the plan. Only Jesus can lead us closer and closer to heaven while guiding us through the pitfalls and dangers of the journey.
And it is only Jesus who can smile at our blunders when we stray from his plans, because he knows that we still really do love him and want to do what's right. He knows how to implement a new plan that will steer us back into safe pastures. He compassionately holds onto us so that we don't wriggle away from the Father's hand forever.
Whenever we distrust anyone -- ourselves, included -- we can safely trust that no matter what happens, Jesus is always there, steadfastly guiding us and re-guiding us after we stray. Because we really do love him and want to do what's right, he is securing our safety, redeeming our mistakes, making good come from bad when we repent of our sins, and of course always making sure that we'll get home to heaven.
To be good sheep, all we have to do is cooperate with his guidance!
Questions for Personal Reflection:
How much do you trust yourself and your discernment
of truth and your ability to stay on the path to heaven?
Who else is difficult to trust right now? What will you
do this week to entrust these matters to Jesus?

Liturgia Sagrada / Sacred Liturgy
What is the sacrament of Confirmation? The sacrament of Confirmation is one of the three sacraments of Christian initiation. The same word, Confirmation that means to affirm or consolidate, tells us a lot. In this sacrament the work of Baptism is strengthened and completed. For this sacrament, the baptized person is strengthened with the gift of the Holy Spirit. A deeper rootedness to the divine filiation is achieved, it unites more intimately with the Church, strengthening itself to be a witness of Jesus Christ, in word and deed. For him he is able to defend his faith and to transmit it. From the Confirmation we become mature Christians and we can lead a more perfect, more active Christian life. It is the sacrament of Christian maturity and that makes us capable of being witnesses of Christ. On the day of Pentecost - when the Church was founded, the apostles and disciples were gathered together with the Virgin. They were fearful, they did not understand what had happened believing that everything had been in vain - they were sad. Suddenly, the Holy Spirit descended on them - they were transformed - and from that moment they understood everything that had happened, they stopped being afraid, they started preaching and baptizing. Confirmation is "our personal Pentecost". The Holy Spirit is continuously acting on the Church in very different ways. Confirmation as the Holy Spirit descends upon us - is one of the ways in which He makes Himself present to the people of God.

Stewardship Reflection
Reflexiones
4th Sunday of Easter
“The disciples were filled with joy and the Holy Spirit.”
(ACTS 13:52)
The disciples heard Our Lord’s call and were able to spread the
Gospel message with strength and vitality. We, too, can
experience that same joy if we make room for the Holy Spirit to
fill our hearts.
When we use our gifts in the way that God intends, He fills us
with supernatural joy. A joy that others
notice and are attracted to.

Blessing of Mothers
During the season of Easter, what a great time to remember our mothers and ask for God's blessing on
them. It is God who ultimately gave us life. It is through God's unselfish love--mirrored in our mothers' willingness to associate their love with God's and take
the risk to love us into life--that we have the opportunity for life. We remember our mothers this
Mother's Day with much love. Let us pray for each of them:
God our heavenly Father,
you give to each the ability to share your generative love.
Bless those women in our lives who mirror your love and bring forth life through their willingness
to risk bringing new life into this world. Help us to show them our gratitude
for the gift of life and the gift of a mother's love. May our life-giving God continue to bless them
and show them his unfailing love. We ask this through Jesus, God's Son and our brother.
Amen.
