INTRODUCTIONINTRODUCTION

4th GENERATION

MOBILE COMMUNICATION

The technology behind latest mobile communication.

4G communication algorithms send information out over two or more antennas and the information is received via multiple antennas as well as on normal radio.

WHAT IS 4G COMMUNICATION?

1st generation(1G),2nd generation(2G), 2.5G and 3G communication system were conventionally used for communication. But now 4G communication is used in a new era of mobile communiction which is not only wireless but also simless coverage and integration for anytime and anywhere communication.4G is the modified version of 3G mobile communication.

The 2G technology for mobile communication originated during 1990s and it revolved around GSM mainly for voice communication. It was focused on voice services with circuit switching, whereas the current 2.5G technology is focused on circuit switched voice service and packet switched data service.

THIRD GENERATION(3G)CONCEP

T Use of a single interface number And an advanced core network. It aims at: 1. Relibility with low-cost and flexiblity. 2. Wireless data access with Internet connection. 3. High data rates of 2 Mbps, whereas previous GSM

or 2G offered 10 to 50Kbps.

4. High-speed multimedia or broadband services, causing shift from voice-oriented services to Internet access (both data and voice, particularly with VoIP technology), video, music, graphics and other multimedia services

5. Use of spectrum around 2 GHz, whereas spectrum allocation for 2G was 800/900 MHz

6. Global roaming to support global communication

7. Flexible network to support existing and future requirements

8. Mobile multimedia services that will be able to transmit data, voice, video, image, etc over a variety of networks like point-to-point, point-to multipoint, broadcast, symmetric and asymmetric, etc

FOURTH GENERATION(4G) CONCEPT

4G is also known as the CDMA 2000 technology. It was developed in the mid 2001. The 4G vision provides a seamless and evolutionary high

data rate upgrade path for current users of 2G and 3G CDMA technology.

The 4G was developed by TIA of US. Since 4G allows the same spectrum, bandwidth RF

equipment, and air interface frame work to be used at each base station as the 4G upgrades are introduced over time.

ADVANTAGES OF 4G OVER 3G

1. Scalability so that it can handle huge traffic with efficient use of transmission bandwidth.

2. Advanced services that were not possible with the 3G network.

3. Interoperability with 3G so that important 3G services can be offered.

4. Quality service like circuit switched services.5. Flexibility so that both the present and future services

can be offered.6. High security.7. Roaming service with lower handover time to achieve

lower communication connection latency.

MULTIPATH FADING

Page 13: 4g communication

04/10/23 13

Fading results in sudden drop of signal power in the receiver. Multipath fading results when the transmitted signal bounces off objects like buildings, office cabinets and hills, creating multiple paths for the signal to reach the receiver. The same transmitted signal that follows the different paths reaches the receiver at different times with different phases.

Added together, the several incidences of the same signal with different phases and amplitudes may cancel each other, causing signal loss or drop of signal power.

Multipath fading can be minimized by 4G communication system.

ADVANTAGES OF 4G:-

1 Higher capacity 2 Higher data rates 3 Higher reliability 4 Better quality of service 5 Low bit-error rate

LIMITATION IN 4G TECHNOLOGY

1. Consumption of more energy

2. The hand set and other mobile devices become costlier

CONCLUSION:- As 4G is being the most efficient technology for transmission of voice and data, this is the mostly used technology in the recent mobile communication system.
