1. Almost half of the world’s rainforest have been cut down in the past 50 years. In 1989, rainforests were disappearing in numbers of 24 hectares every minute.

2. Experts estimate that we’re losing 137 plant, animal, and insect species every single day due to rainforest deforestation. That equates to 50,000 species a year.

3. It wasn’t until the last 100 years that wide spread tropical forest burning began.4. If people keep destroying rainforests the food cycle can be broken.5.
