Parish Staff
Baptism & Baptism Class: Baptisms are held on Sundays at 1:30 p.m. The baptism class for parents is held monthly on Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. Please call the Parish Office to pre-register for the next available class. Sacrament of Matrimony: In accordance with the regulations of the Bishop of Arlington, couples must contact a priest and begin preparation at least six months prior to the wedding. Parish registration and active participation for a minimum of three months is required before preparation may begin. Couples who are living together will be asked to live separately during the preparation time as living together before marriage is sinful and harmful to the future marriage.
First Communion: For Children: Generally, First Communion is received when a child is in second grade. Preparation for First Communion is a two year process, and students must complete both first and second grade classes before receiving Holy Communion. Please contact the Religious Education Office with questions. Sacramental Preparation for Adults (RCIA): Adults who wish to receive Baptism, First Communion, and/or Confirmation are invited to attend the Inquiry Class, taught by Father Saunders on Thursday evenings. Please contact the Parish Secretary or visit the website to register.
What does it mean to be an active Catholic? Frequently, those seeking to celebrate Marriage, have children baptized, or serve as sponsors for Confirmation or Baptism request a letter stating that they are parishioners and active, practicing Catholics. To receive such a letter, one must be registered in the parish, attend Mass regularly, and be committed to a stewardship of time, talent, and treasure. We encourage all parishioners to become active in one of the parish organizations.
In a community as large as Our Lady of Hope, our most effective means of verifying participation is through the use of parish offertory envelopes or electronic giving, such as Faith Direct. If you choose not to participate in the support of the parish, or are unable to contribute at this time, please note your prayerful support on your envelope and place it in the weekly offertory. We will then be aware of your continued participation, and you will not be noted as "inactive" on our parish roster.

Our Lady of Hope Council #12791
Our communities need strong Catholic men to answer the call to lead with faith, protection of families, service to others and to defend our val-ues. For over 100 years, Knights of Columbus have done exactly that, standing up for the Church, serving the least among us, & strength-ening our parishes & families.
Eligible Catholic men can now join the Knights of Columbus online in a simple, streamlined process. As a member, you join a worldwide community of nearly two million men, including almost 30,000 here in Virginia, who stand together. Men have a duty to lead, protect, serve and defend. The world needs more commit-ted, unified Catholic men to answer the call. Will you answer?
Visit kofc.org/joinus to learn more about the many benefits of membership in the Knights of Columbus.

Bambinelli Sunday The tradition of “Bambinelli Sunday” was in-stituted by Pope St. John Paul II, taking place on the third Sunday of Advent, also known as Gaudete Sunday. Children bring figures of the Christ child, the bambinelli, from their nativity sets to hold up for a special blessing. A beautiful Advent tradition, the blessing reminds the whole fam-ily that the birth of Christ is the true gift of Christmas. The blessing will take place following the 10:30 a.m. Mass.

Choir Christmas Concert
Join the Our Lady of Hope Choir on December 16 for an evening of Christmas music and cheer as they prepare to sing at the Papal Mass on January 1 in Rome. The Children’s Choir will also perform. You won’t want to miss their joint finale! The concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the church.
All are welcome at this special Mass to spiritually prepare for Christ on De-cember 21st at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Hope. The main Celebrant is our pastor, Father Saunders. A reception will follow in the parish hall.
Simbang Gabi is a novena of Masses traditionally held in the Philippines. Originally, the Masses were held just before dawn to accommodate the fact that people needed to be in the fields and working. Today, it is not only cele-brated in the Philippines but also among the Filipino “diaspora” all over the world. In the United States, many Filipino communities switched to evening Masses for various reasons, including modern work schedules. People from many cultures participate in Simbang Gabi and thus deepen their appreciation of the Advent season.
The OLOH Simbang Gabi Committee requests your support in the form of food donations (i.e., Lumpia Shanghai, Pork/Chicken Adobo, small bottles of water, and desserts such as Cassava cake, Leche Flan and fruit salad) or volunteering (food servers and clean-up).
For more information or to help out in any way, please call Lara So at 703-717-1062 or Judy Trozado at 703-314-4735. For information about Simbang Gabi, inclement weather plans, and a full schedule of Mass times and loca-tions, please visit simbanggabi.com.
