The Council of the Royal Statistical Society will again, in 1933,award the Frances Wood Memorial Prize, value [30. The prize will beawarded for the best investigation, on statistical lines, of any problemaffecting the economic or social conditions of the wage-earning classes.Competitors will choose their own subjects, but it is believed that originalobservation or analysis made in the course of the writer's ordinary work orspecial research will afford usefulmaterial for papers, and somesuggestions

are contained in a leaflet obtainable from the Society.Those eligible to compete are:

(I ) All undergraduates, and all graduates of not more than three years'standing, of Universities in the United Kingdom, who will be lessthan 30 years of age on December 31st, 1932.

(2) Such non-graduates below the age of 30 years as the Council mayapprove.

Theses submitted or intended to be submitted as university exercises,and also published papers, are admissible. Essays (which must be eitherprinted or typed, and accompanied by copies of all statistical tabulations)must be sent to the Honorary Secretaries of the Roya l Sta tis tic al So cie ry,9 Adelp hi Terra ce, W.C .2,not later than December 31st, 1932.
