District 4 Meeting

Workshop and Keynote Descriptions

President/President Elect Workshop Every sport has a training camp at the beginning of their season where rookies and veterans attend in order to get into shape for the season, learn the playbook and focus on building their team. Soroptimists are no different! This year’s leadership training camp will focus on getting your leadership skills in shape, reviewing the existing playbook and learning about some exciting new plays we will be leveraging this season. We’ll add a healthy dose of fun, team building and friendly competition. This workshop has previously been focused on only Presidents and President Elects and this year we invite your leadership team to join us! TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK! Presented by NWR Governor Stephanie Smith and NWR Governor Elect Marti Crook

General Session Workshop Does it seem as though every time you get new officers, they want to change the way the club is run? Join Vanessa Horning as she helps clarify why some members get so excited about the constant change and others wish we could just leave things alone...at least for a while! Change for individuals, as with teams, is a process – very short and easy for some and for others…not so much. What can your club do to make sure that the transition curve (as John Fisher puts it) is one that takes into consideration all members of your club - and through the process, keeps the team intact and functioning on all cylinders? This interactive and fun time will look at the process of transition and how for some clubs, if not handled correctly, can certainly cause disruption and sadly, even a loss of members.

Presented by Vanessa Horning, NWR Professional Development Committee Chair

Lunch Keynote Just Say YES -How fear creeps into your life.

Presented by Andy Cottrell

Session 1 Workshops

“Gather Your Team and Hoist the MemberSHIP Sails” Building up - adding to – and maintaining your club’s team is critical to the success of your team’s amazing programs! Join the membership team as they provide you with the latest information regarding the next phase of the team competition portion of the “All Aboard the MemberSHIP” campaign. Learn how to find out what your members want so they can have the best membership experience with TEAM SOROPTIMIST!

Facilitated by the NWR Membership Team

Say YES to your dream – Say YES to the dreams of your club and YOU! Presented by Andy Cotrell

Session 2 Workshops

“Creating Your Team’s Playbook and Schedule” Do YOU have club retreats? If the answer is yes, come and share your ideas as Vanessa Horning facilitates a workshop on agendas and activities to make sure your retreat is the kickoff your club needs (and deserves!) for a great club year. If the answer is no, come and learn the importance of having a club retreat. Many things will be discussed and none will be off the table…even how to deal with the “elephant” in the room…sometimes known as the “sacred cow”. Facilitated by Vanessa Horning, Professional Development Committee “Common Myths about Women’s Health” Say YES to being healthy! Presented by Dr. Jesse Scharnweber

District 4 Meeting Service Focus:

The Friendship Center

Mission: The Center helps individuals and families of domestic and sexual

violence gain access to community services and resources which provide the

assistance they need to resolve their crisis and begin to rebuild their lives.

The Friendship Center (TFC) is the only agency that provides safe shelter and a broad range of support services to victims of domestic and sexual violence in a large three county area in Southwest Montana. TFC operates from a 15,000 square foot shelter that can accommodate twelve (12) families and includes staff offices. TFC’s primary objective is to provide immediate safe shelter for adult and child victims and to provide opportunities for them to access the services they need to rebuild their lives.

TFC services include a 24 hour a day crisis line, safe shelter, emotional support, domestic violence and sexual assault support groups, case management, legal advocacy, Order of Protection assistance, information

and referrals, and community education and

outreach.

All services are FREE and CONFIDENTIAL.

Our project is to assemble “welcome toiletry totes”. These totes will

contain personal items to include: full size shampoo, body lotion, tooth

brush, tooth paste, shower gel, etc. We’ll have the totes, please bring the

items to fill the bags on Saturday afternoon.
