Surah ad-Dukhaan (The Smoke)

�� ح�يم الر� ح�من� الر� الله� � م ��س ب

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful


حم

[44:1] Ha Mim!


�ين� �م"ب ال %اب� �ت �ك و%ال

[44:2] I swear by the Book that makes manifest (the truth).


�ا "ن ك �ا �ن إ %ة- ك %ار% م0ب %ة- �ل %ي ل ف�ي %اه" �ن ل %نز% أ �ا �ن إ م"نذ�ر�ين%

[44:3] Surely We revealed it on a blessed night surely We are ever warning--


- ح%ك�يم م�ر-% أ "ل0 ك ق" "ف�ر% ي ف�يه%ا

[44:4] Therein every wise affair is made distinct,


�ين% ل س� �م"ر �ا "ن ك �ا �ن إ %ا ند�ن ع� �م@ن ا Aر�م% أ

[44:5] A command from Us; surely We are the senders (of messengers),


م�يع" الس� ه"و% �ه" �ن إ @ك% ب ر� م@ن Aم%ة�ح ر%�يم" �ع%ل ال

[44:6] A mercy from your Lord, surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing,


%ه"م%ا �ن %ي ب و%م%ا ر�ض�% �و%األ م%او%ات� الس� ب@ ر%

�ين% م0وق�ن "م "نت ك �ن إ

[44:7] The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure.


ب0 و%ر% �"م 0ك ب ر% "م�يت" و%ي �ي ي �"ح ي ه"و% �ال� إ %ه% �ل إ ال%�ين% و�ل

% �األ "م" �ك %ائ آب

[44:8] There is no god but He; He gives life and causes death, your Lord and the Lord of your

fathers of yore.


"ون% �ع%ب %ل ي Qك ش% ف�ي �ه"م �%ل ب

[44:9] Nay, they are in doubt, they sport.


�د"خ%ان- ب م%اء الس� �ي �ت %أ ت %و�م% ي �%ق�ب ت �ف%ار

�ين- م0ب

[44:10] Therefore keep waiting for the day when the heaven shall bring an evident smoke,


Zيم� %ل أ Zع%ذ%اب ه%ذ%ا �اس% الن ى %غ�ش% ي

[44:11] That shall overtake men; this is a painful punishment.


"ون% م"ؤ�م�ن �ا �ن إ �ع%ذ%اب% ال �ا ع%ن ��ش�ف اك %ا �ن ب ر%

[44:12] Our Lord! remove from us the punishment; surely we are believers.


Zول س" ر% �ج%اءه"م �و%ق%د ى �ر% الذ@ك %ه"م" ل �ى %ن أZين� م0ب

[44:13] How shall they be reminded, and there came to them an Messenger making clear (the

truth),


Zون" ن �م�ج Zم� م"ع%ل "وا و%ق%ال �ه" ع%ن �و�ا %و%ل ت "م� ث

[44:14] Yet they turned their backs on him and said: One taught (by others), a madman.


�"م �ك �ن إ Aيال� ق%ل �ع%ذ%اب� ال ف"و %اش� ك �ا �ن إ�د"ون% ع%ائ

[44:15] Surely We will remove the punishment a little, (but) you will surely return (to evil).


�ا �ن إ ى �ر% "ب �ك ال ة% %ط�ش% �ب ال �ط�ش" %ب ن %و�م% ي%ق�م"ون% م"نت

[44:16] On the day when We will seize (them) with the most violent seizing; surely We will inflict

retribution.


ع%و�ن% �ف�ر ق%و�م% �%ه"م �ل ق%ب �ا %ن ف%ت �%ق%د و%ل Zر�يم% ك Zس"ول ر% � و%ج%اءه"م

[44:17] And certainly We tried before them the people of Firon, and there came to them a noble

messenger,


�"م %ك ل @ي �ن إ �ه� الل %اد% ب ع� %ي� �ل إ %د0وا أ �%ن أ Zم�ين% أ Zس"ول ر%

[44:18] Saying: Deliver to me the servants of Allah, surely I am a faithful messenger to you,


�يك"م آت @ي �ن إ �ه� الل ع%ل%ى "وا %ع�ل ت ال� �%ن و%أ�ين- م0ب ل�ط%ان- �س" ب

[44:19] And that do not exalt yourselves against Allah, surely I will bring to you a clear authority:


ج"م"ون� �%ر ت %ن أ �"م @ك ب و%ر% @ي ب �ر% ب ع"ذ�ت" @ي �ن و%إ

[44:20] And surely I take refuge with my Lord and your Lord that you should stone me to death:


"ون� %ز�ل ف%اع�ت ل�ي "وا "ؤ�م�ن ت ��م ل ��ن و%إ

[44:21] And if you do not believe in me, then leave me alone.


م0ج�ر�م"ون% Zم�ق%و ء ه%ؤ"ال% %ن� أ �ه" ب ر% ف%د%ع%ا

[44:22] Then he called upon his Lord: These are a guilty people.


%ع"ون% �ب م0ت "م �ك �ن إ Aال� %ي ل %اد�ي �ع�ب ب ر� �س% ف%أ

[44:23] So go forth with My servants by night; surely you will be pursued:


Zند ج" ��ه"م �ن إ ه�وAا ر% %ح�ر% �ب ال �ك �ر" و%اتق"ون% م0غ�ر%

[44:24] And leave the sea intervening; surely they are a host that shall be drowned.


"ون- و%ع"ي �ات- ن ج% م�ن "وا ك %ر% ت �%م ك

[44:25] How many of the gardens and fountains have they left!


- %ر�يم ك - و%م%ق%ام وع- ر" و%ز"

[44:26] And cornfields and noble places!


�ه�ين% ف%اك ف�يه%ا "وا %ان ك %ع�م%ة- و%ن

[44:27] And goodly things wherein they rejoiced;


آخ%ر�ين% ق%و�مAا %اه%ا �ن ث و�ر%% و%أ �ك% %ذ%ل ك

[44:28] Thus (it was), and We gave them as a heritage to another people.


و%م%ا ر�ض"% �و%األ م%اء الس� �ه�م" %ي ع%ل �%ت %ك ب ف%م%ا

م"نظ%ر�ين% "وا %ان ك

[44:29] So the heaven and the earth did not weep for them, nor were they respited.


�ع%ذ%اب� ال م�ن% �يل% ائ ر% ��س إ �ي %ن ب %ا �ن ي %ج� ن �%ق%د و%ل

�م"ه�ين� ال

[44:30] And certainly We delivered the children of Israel from the abasing chastisement,


م@ن% Aا �ي ع%ال %ان% ك �ه" �ن إ ع%و�ن% �ف�ر م�نر�ف�ين% ��م"س ال

[44:31] From Firon; surely he was haughty, (and) one of the extravagant.


ع%ل%ى - �م ل ع� ع%ل%ى �%اه"م ن �%ر ت �اخ %ق%د� و%ل%م�ين% �ع%ال ال

[44:32] And certainly We chose them, having knowledge, above the nations.


Zين� م0ب ء %ال% ب ف�يه� م%ا %ات� ي �اآل م@ن% %اه"م �ن %ي و%آت

[44:33] And We gave them of the communications wherein was clear blessing.


"ون% %ق"ول %ي ل ء ه%ؤ"ال% �ن� إ

[44:34] Most surely these do say:


%ح�ن" ن و%م%ا "ول%ى �األ %ا "ن %ت م%و�ت �ال� إ ه�ي% ��ن إر�ين% �م"نش% ب

[44:35] There is naught but our first death and we shall not be raised again.


ص%اد�ق�ين% �"م "نت ك �ن إ %ا �ن %ائ �آب ب "وا �ت ف%أ

[44:36] So bring our fathers (back), if you are truthful.


م�ن �ذ�ين% و%ال �ع- "ب ت ق%و�م" �%م أ Zر� ي خ% �%ه"م أ"وا %ان ك ��ه"م �ن إ �%اه"م �ن %ك %ه�ل أ ��ه�م �ل ق%ب

م"ج�ر�م�ين%

[44:37] Are they better or the people of Tubba and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely

they were guilty.


و%م%ا ر�ض%% �و%األ م%او%ات� الس� %ا %ق�ن ل خ% و%م%ا

�ين% ب ع� ال% %ه"م%ا �ن %ي ب

[44:38] And We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them in sport.


�ه"م %ر% �ث ك% أ %ك�ن� و%ل �ح%ق@ �ال ب �ال� إ %اه"م%ا %ق�ن ل خ% م%ا

%م"ون% %ع�ل ي ال%

[44:39] We did not create them both but with the truth, but most of them do not know.


%ج�م%ع�ين% أ �"ه"م م�يق%ات �ف%ص�ل� ال %و�م% ي �ن� إ

[44:40] Surely the day of separation is their appointed term, of all of them


Aا �ئ ي ش% م�و�لAى ع%ن م%و�لAى �ي "غ�ن ي ال% %و�م% يون% "نص%ر" ي �ه"م و%ال%

[44:41] The day on which a friend shall not avail (his) friend aught, nor shall they be helped,


�ع%ز�يز" ال ه"و% �ه" �ن إ �ه" الل ح�م% ر� م%ن �ال� إح�يم" الر�

[44:42] Save those on whom Allah shall have mercy; surely He is the Mighty the Merciful.


� ق0وم الز� ة% ج%ر% ش% �ن� إ

[44:43] Surely the tree of the Zaqqum,


� �يم %ث �األ ط%ع%ام"

[44:44] Is the food of the sinful


"ط"ون� �ب ال ف�ي %غ�ل�ي ي �م"ه�ل� %ال ك

[44:45] Like dregs of oil; it shall boil in (their) bellies,


� �ح%م�يم ال %غ%ل�ي� ك

[44:46] Like the boiling of hot water.


� �ج%ح�يم ال و%اء س% �ل%ى إ "وه" �ل ف%اع�ت خ"ذ"وه"

[44:47] Seize him, then drag him down into the middle of the hell;


ع%ذ%اب� �م�ن ه� �س� أ ر% ف%و�ق% 0وا ص"ب "م� ث

� �ح%م�يم ال

[44:48] Then pour above his head of the torment of the boiling water:


%ر�يم" �ك ال �ع%ز�يز" ال %نت% أ �ك% �ن إ � ذ"ق

[44:49] Taste; you forsooth are the mighty, the honorable:


ون% %ر" %م�ت ت �ه� ب "م "نت ك م%ا ه%ذ%ا �ن� إ

[44:50] Surely this is what you disputed about.


%م�ين- أ - م%ق%ام ف�ي �ق�ين% �م"ت ال �ن� إ

[44:51] Surely those who guard (against evil) are in a secure place,


"ون- و%ع"ي �ات- ن ج% ف�ي

[44:52] In gardens and springs;


ق- �ر% %ب ت ��س و%إ ند"س- س" م�ن %س"ون% �ب %ل ي�ين% �ل %ق%اب م0ت

[44:53] They shall wear of fine and thick silk, (sitting) face to face;


ع�ين- �ح"ور- ب %اه"م ن �و�ج و%ز% �ك% %ذ%ل ك

[44:54] Thus (shall it be), and We will wed them with Houris pure, beautiful ones.


�ين% آم�ن �ه%ة- ف%اك "ل@ �ك ب ف�يه%ا %د�ع"ون% ي

[44:55] They shall call therein for every fruit in security;


%ة% �م%و�ت ال �ال� إ �م%و�ت% ال ف�يه%ا %ذ"وق"ون% ي ال% � �ج%ح�يم ال ع%ذ%اب% �و%و%ق%اه"م "ول%ى � األ

[44:56] They shall not taste therein death except the first death, and He will save them from the

punishment of the hell,


�ع%ظ�يم" ال �ف%و�ز" ال ه"و% �ك% ذ%ل @ك% ب ر� م@ن Aال� ف%ض

[44:57] A grace from your Lord; this is the great achievement.


��ه"م %ع%ل ل �ك% ان �ل�س% ب %اه" ن �ر %س� ي �م%ا �ن ف%إون% �ر" %ذ%ك %ت ي

[44:58] So have We made it easy in your tongue that they may be mindful.


"ون% %ق�ب ت �م0ر �ه"م �ن إ �%ق�ب ت � ف%ار

[44:59] Therefore wait; surely they are waiting.
