AALCO takes great pleasure in offering this folding modelwhose excellent design, operation characteristics and scope ofapplication give it an extraordinary potential.

Like the backward folding backstop, the Roll-Fold has all thefeatures most preferred in a ceiling suspended goal support,such as: vertical main drop, rigid-locking rearward bracing,rearward hoist cable, compact folding with the backboard fac-ing down and storage towards the gym perimeter.

Unlike the back-folding, however, this model can fold any-where there is room enough behind the background for rear-ward bracing (inclined as little as 25º from the vertical). Alsounlike any jackknife braced model is the smooth “breaking” ofthe rear brace and first time, every time, precisely flat foldingof the frames.Operation:1) Tension on the hoist cable causes the rear brace to jack-knife.2) Jackknifing of the rear brace slackens the guys to the upperend of the main drop, allowing it to move forward on the sup-porting track.3) The hoist cable begins to lift the lower end of the maindrop, folding the rear brace on top of it. The main drop rollsforward as determined by the folding of the rear brace.4) Lowering the backstop reverses the order of the aboveevents, and is completed with the falling of the rear brace intoits straightened “down” position draws the main drop intoupright position against a track stop.Refer to page19 for description of all 100 series models.

The 300 Clear-View series is designed to provide excellentappearance, rigidity and the maximum in clear vision throughthe rectangular glass bank…free of distracting structural sup-ports. The vertical members of 3” sq. tubing are spaced as tohide behind the perimeter frame and markings of the glassbank. Horizontal spacer tubes join the verticals every 5 foot ofthe drop length. Clean and attractive lines and exceptional,lasting rigidity are provided by the use of 3” square steel tub-ing joined by welded construction.

While the 300 series is designed with the #501 glass bank inmind, it may be used on main or cross courts using the #901rectangular fiberglass backboards.

The excellent rigidity of 3” sq. tubing and welded construc-tion permits fold-up models of the 300 series to pivot directlyfrom ceiling heights of up to 40’. Either manual or remotecontrol electric operation (see page 7) may be employed.

Direct mount attachment can be used on this unit, minimiz-ing stress on the glass bank.Refer to page19 for description of all 100 series models.

The traditional “double drop” backstop remains an excel-lent choice for low to medium height ceilings. The 23/8” O.D.and 17/8” O.D. drop pipes providing adequate columnarrigidity for suspensions up to 25 feet above the finishedfloor. For higher ceilings, rigid super-structures are usuallybuilt down to the 25 foot level, however, Series 100 back-stops now provide an alternative both more economical inmaterial and installation, as well as a support that can foldentirely up to the ceiling level. Where the double-dropdesign is selected, no better choice can be made thanAALCO Series 200 models, whose main and brace dropframe of one-piece welded construction with vibrationlesssteel horizontals provide clean lines and unusual integrity.AALCO can manufacture the double-drop series 200 up to30’ high ceilings utilizing sway braces. But we recommendgoing to the 100 series, or if you prefer a clear view, goingto the 300 series beyond 30’ ceiling heights.Refer to page19 for description of all 200 series models.

The curtainshall be electronically welded tosize from horizontally running,millwidth fabric panels using1.5” lap welds.The lower 10 ft. of the curtainshall be a solid, polyester-rein-forced vinyl fabric weighing18oz./sq. yd. Fabric shall be rotand mildew resistant and show minimum results from Fed. Std.Textile Test 191 of 300 lbs./inchtensile strength, 100 lbs./inchtear strength, and an ASTM E84-70 flame spread testresult of 25 or less. Color shall be as selected from manu-facturers standard swatch selection.The upper area of each curtain shall be a white, vinyl-coat-ed polyester mesh, approximately 50% open weave andweighing 6 oz/sq. yd. Fabric shall have a tensile strengthof 100 lbs./inch and be self-extinguishing. The top edge ofeach curtain half shall house a continuous 1.9” dia. rigid-coupled, tubular steel batten to provide uniform line andsupport. A like batten shall provide ballast and even line ina line in a sleeve in the bottom edge.

Raising of the curtain shall be by hoist lines of 1/8”-7x19aircraft cable, spaced at uniform intervals across the widthof the curtain. Each line shall secure to the bottom edgechain/batten and run up the curtain and lace through D-rings at 18” intervals so as to accordion-fold the curtain asthe lines are taken up.

At the ceiling the hoist lines shall train through multiplepulley blacks to a winch drum partitioned to provide onedrum for each line. The drum diameter for each line shallbe sized as needed to raise the curtain to the sloped stor-age position.

The electric winch shall include the following features: 20fpm curtain operation; an instant-reversing 120 VAC cap-start overload-protected motor; load support at all timesthrough self-locking worm-gearing; lubed-for-life bearings;key-operated spring return-to-off flush mounting wallswitch; and a travel-control mechanism automaticallyshutting off up and down travel. Electrical conduit, wiring,etc. from operator to power and to the remote wall switchshall be by others (electrical contractor).
