The HOPE Community Services children and their families were treated to a memorable

Thanksgiving feast with Rivera. Just before the dinner, Brandon Steiner, CEO of Steiner Sports

provided each of Rivera’s guests a gift bag that contained a key chain with authentic Yankee

Stadium dirt; a miniature Yankee Stadium plaque; and a photo of Rivera.

Carlos Ortiz, 15, later presented Rivera with a HOPE Community Services t-shirt on behalf of all

the youngsters from the non-profit organization.

HOPE Community Services is Westchester County's largest direct provider of emergency food

services, exclusively assisting New Rochelle residents and homeless. Its soup kitchen serves

about 200 meals per day during the holiday season, providing a take-home meal for every meal

served.

“We did close to 500,000 meals last year,” said Carole Troum, Executive Director of HOPE

Community Services. “Since then, the demand for services has increased by about 44 percent, so

this generous initiative through 42 Clubhouse Grill is well-timed and definitely needed.

Everyone here at HOPE Community Services is especially grateful to the Mariano Rivera

Foundation for this Thanksgiving dinner, and to the ownership of the 42 Clubhouse Grill for

taking up our cause, especially during the holiday season when the need is so great.”

a host of volunteers, HOPE opened the doors of its first soup kitchen in 1984. Since its early

days, HOPE has grown to become the largest emergency food pantry and soup kitchen in the

region. Although HOPE Community Services was founded to respond to hunger in the

community, it quickly became apparent that food was not the only thing clients were lacking.

Clothing, language skills, emotional support, immigration services, and other daily necessities

were also needed. HOPE Community Services expanded its services to meet the needs of its

diverse client population. For more information about Hope Community Services, please visit
