    1   1Parameters presentation

    Overview

    Purpose

Configuration parameters are user-definable settings that control various aspects of LTE

radio access network behavior. A parameter belongs to a containing object. The parameter is characterized by the name, data type, and a vector of properties. It is used inside an

action to describe a relationship. A parameter is added or modified each time the behavior

of a resource or service is configured or information displayed to the operator. The

parameter corresponds to the minimal granularity at which a network element can

    configure resources.

This chapter explains the conventions and the format used in the object and parameter

    descriptions.

    Object description

    Overview

Object is the representation of an operation, administration, and maintenance (OAM)

resource and is a container for attributes, actions, and notifications. Attributes are alsoknown as parameters. This is used to represent OAM data or NE configuration resources.

An object can be a container for other objects. Each eNodeB parameter is represented

with a unique name. The objects are in alphabetical order according to their unique name.

    For example: AccessBarring, AccessBarringForOriginatingCalls, AccessBarringForSig-

    nalling, and so on.

An object contains the following information:

    Presence

The presence property indicates whether the presence of the component is  Optional  or

     Required  within the object instance.

    •   The Optional  parameter means that an instance or instances of the objects are not

    required in the containing object.

    •   The Required  parameter means that an instance or instances of the objects are always

    required in the containing object.

    OnLineCreation

The OnLineCreation property describes the value as Allowed  or  NotAllowed.

The values of the field are as follows:

    •   Allowed  object is created without any impact on the service.

    •   NotAllowed  object cannot be created online.

    OnLineDeletion

The OnLineDeletion property describes the value as Allowed  or  NotAllowed.

The values of the field are as follows:

    •   Allowed  object is deleted without any impact on the service.

    •   NotAllowed  object cannot be deleted online.

    Parents

The Parents property provides the containing object.

    Children

The Children property provides a list of the contained objects.

    Identifiers

The Identifiers property contains a table with the following information:

    Table 1-1 Identifiers

Name ID Category ID Qualifier ID Scope Min

    Instances

    Max

    Instances

    - - - - - -

    •   The Name column presents the parameter names of the object. It identifies the

instances of the object and ensures that it does not exceed the maximum cardinality

allowed for the object. It can be considered as a primary or secondary identifier for

    the object.

    •   The ID Category column indicates whether the parameter is an absolute identifier

(unique among all instances of the object in the network) or a relative identifier

(unique only among the instances that are contained by the immediately containing

    object).

    •   The ID Qualifier  column indicates whether the parameter is a primary key or a

secondary key to access the object instances in the database.

    •   The ID Scope column indicates the scope of the parameter.

    •   The Min Instances column provides the minimum number of instances that are

possible by an object in a valid model.

    •   The Max Instances column provides the maximum number of instances that are

possible by an object in a valid model.

    Parameter description

    Overview

This section provides the information on parameter fields. Each parameter contains the

    following fields:

    Parameter name

There are two kinds of domains, which are  eNodeB (ENB) and  Operations,

    Administration, and Maintenance (OAM):

    •   The parameter with domain ENB is visible to both eNodeB and the applicable

management systems. The ENB parameters are part of the ENB, and Management

Information Base (MIB) definition, and are hosted by Service Aware Manager (SAM).

    •   The parameter with domain Operations, Administration, and Maintenance (OAM) isnot visible to the eNodeB. The OAM parameters are part of the Service Aware

Manager (SAM), Operations, Administration, and Maintenance (OAM), and

Management Information Base (MIB) definition, and are hosted by SAM.

    Management System Accessibility

This section indicates the access to the parameter supported by the Operations and

Maintenance Center (OMC), namely, the Service Aware Manager (SAM) and Network

    Management System (NEM).

    The values are:

    •   N/A - Parameters are not supported, at present. They are reserved for future plannedfunctionality.

    •   Object-related - This is an identification parameter. The accessibility depends on

other parameters of the identified object.

    •   Indirect - No direct read or write access is supported. However, the parameter value

may affect some status indications in the GUI.

    •   (NEM) - Read access through NEM.

    •   NEM - Read and write access through NEM.

    •   (OMC)- Read access through OMC.

    •   OMC - Read and write access through OMC.•   (OMC)+(NEM) - Read access through OMC or through NEM.

    •   (OMC)+NEM - Read access through OMC. Read and write access through NEM.

    •   OMC+(NEM) - Read and write access through OMC and read access through NEM.

    •   OMC+NEM - Read and write access through OMC or through NEM.

    Description

This section contains an explanation of the parameter.

    Class

Parameters are sorted in classes according to the impact when modifying, creating, or deleting them for objects.

The three kinds of classes are:

    •   Class 0: This class describes full eNodeB reset parameters. The modification,

creation, or deletion requires a full NE reset. The NE OAM interfaces are unavailable

during the reset. All telecom service on the NE are lost and unavailable during the

    reset.

    •   Class 2: This class describes partial service interruption (disable or enable of resourceis triggered automatically) parameters. The modification, creation, or deletion requires

internal resources unavailability in the NE, which leads to services impacts. The NE

OAM interfaces remain available. The precise service impact can vary between

parameters partial unavailability or fully unavailability, some resources impacted, or

all NE telecom operations unavailable, duration of the unavailability. The Class 2 can

     be further divided in subclasses.

    •   Class 3: This class describes no impact on service (full online) parameters. The

modification, creation, or deletion is taken into account by the NE without any impact

    on services

READ ONLY: The read only parameters can only be displayed.•   N.A: The parameter for which accessRight  attribute is set to writeAtCreation, this

class concept is not applicable because these parameters cannot be updated after

object instance creation; the class for such parameters are set to N.A.

    Presence

This property indicates whether the parameter is Optional  or  Required  within the object

    instance.

    •   The Optional  parameter is assigned as a regular value in the object instance or it can

remain unset in the object instance without any regular value assigned.

The Required  parameter is for any instance of the given object within a validconfiguration, the parameter must be assigned a regular value.

    Visibility

The object visibility is prime on the attribute visibility. This section describes if the

parameter is for customer or manufacturer.

    Unit

This section contains the unit of the parameter.

    The unit measurement values are:

    •   %

    •   0.1dB

    •   b/s

    •   bytes

    •   dB

    •   Decimal: min = 0, max = 10

    Data Type

This is the core entity to describe data. The data type can be simple or complex. Each data

type is characterized by its naming, range definition that can be composed of intervals or

discrete values and a vector of properties.

    •   Decimal  data type is used to describe integers or floating point number. The

underlying data type is 32-bits integer.
