■ One-Piece Cast-Iron Block – Heavy-duty design with

wide cylinder spacing for long life and excellent

rebuildability.

■ Full-Authority Electronic Controls – Sophisticated

electronic controls optimize combustion based on

engine load and atmospheric conditions. They also

provide advanced monitoring, diagnostic and reporting

capabilities, with integrated engine protection features.

■ High-Pressure Injection – Works at up to 35,000 psi to

optimize engine response with the best fuel economy

and lowest emissions.

■ Precision-Honed Cylinder Liners – Precise liner

machining with superior metal technology creates

exceptional surface smoothness and durability. Made

of ferrous cast ductile iron so that expansion and

contraction won’t create excess wear.

■ Ferrous Cast Ductile Iron Pistons – For even expansion

and contraction during thermal cycles. This is the same

technology found in our 3500-hp QSK78.

■ Large-Diameter Camshaft – 105 mm of hardened

surfaces handle high load capacities. Created specifically

to work with high-pressure injection systems.

■ Rear Gear Train – Significantly reduces engine noise.

■ Seven-Bolt Cylinder Head – Delivers even clamping

force, enabling high cylinder and injector pressures.

■ Two-Stage Oil Filter – Combination full-flow and bypass

oil filter reduces maintenance costs as it extends

service intervals.

Power Unit Features And Benefits.■ Instrument Panel – Operates on 24 volts using the

Murphy PowerView Module J1939 communication with

a 9-pin diagnostic connection. Isolated inner panel within

an outer protective lockable box. Shutdown protection

provided through the ECM. Available on right- or left-hand

side of unit. Nema panels also available.

■ Cooling System – Heavy-duty solid-mount radiator

assembly with jacket-water, charge air cooler and fuel

cooler incorporated. Sucker or blower fan arrangements

available. Aluminized charge air cooler tubes and painted

water tubes. Radiator shroud, fan and belt guarding

included. Built-in low coolant level shutdown protection.

■ Air Cleaner – Dual heavy-duty air cleaners with

aluminized tubing and reinforced shelving unit. Safety

elements included within the air cleaners and restriction

indicators available.

■ Base Rail Mounting – Made of heavy-duty constructed

C channel. All metal components are powder coated

black. Passes a 1,000-hour saltwater test.

■ Clutches – Over center and spread bearing clutches

available depending on application. Provided primarily by

Twin Disc.

Cummins Industrial Warranty.Coverage for two years or 2,000 hours of operation,

whichever occurs first, from the date of delivery of the

power unit to the first user, or from the date the unit is first

leased, rented or loaned, or when the power unit has been

operated for 50 hours, whichever comes first. If the

2,000-hour limit is exceeded during the first year,

coverage continues until the end of the first year.

Maintenance Intervals.The less time an engine spends in service, the more

productive it is on the job. That’s why Cummins QSK23

power units only require oil and oil filter changes every

250 hours or 6 months.
