Architectural Elevations
Window Types:Fixed Window
Fixed windows are windows that do not open.
They are often referred to as “Picture Windows” and are used to provide uninterrupted scenic views.

Window Types:Single Hung Window
Most common
Stationary Sash
Moveable Sash
Most common window type used in the modern construction.
With a single hung window, only the lower sash is capable of being moved.

Double hung windows are made so that both sashes can be raised or lowered.

Window Types:Casement Window
Casement Windows are hinged on the sides like a door, and are the sides like a door, and are opened and closed by turning a hand crank .
They may be opened together or individually.
The casement window shown at right is a double casement. Single casement windows are also available.
